At 9 pm broke from regular nighttime :) routine to brew some "House Black" just bought from Floating Leaves Tea. I was slightly disappointed until: 1. A pleasant mild sweet flavor seemed to coat my mouth or should I call it an "aftertaste"?; 2. the tea tastes much better to me only slightly warm or at room temperature. Overall to me (who is no expert) it's simple Yunnan black w/o any harshness & has that subtle sweetness that develops slowly.

Sriracha, I'd be interested in hearing where you purchased this, and what your impressions are of it.

Thanks.

Best wishes,

sherubtse, this bag I got from a local shop, at about $25/100g if I remember correctly. I also have an unopened bag from High Teas:

http://www.highteas.co.uk/himalayas/143 ... gfop1.html

Tea is rather expensive here :o

This was my first cup, so I used approximate parameters from similar teas, next time I'll shorten steep time a little. The aroma is lovely, a heady, bread-y sort of scent, a little warmer in character than the Maloom and Kuwapani teas I've tried, the taste clean but with good, aromatic FF bitterness underneath.

=)

Impulse bought a tin of Indiska's 110th anniversary Darjeeling yesterday, which turned out to be Badamtam estate, a 2nd flush I think.

Intended to bring a little quality to breakfasts at work it was surprisingly good(Indiska is a clothing and home decoration store so finding this was a nice surprise), flowery and a little spicy.

Having some VERY unusual red this morning, Taiwan Ruby 18 from FLT. I'm not sure how I feel about it yet. Really powerful scent and taste of roasted yams. A little cinnamon taste as well. Sweet with a long aftertaste. Interesting that's for sure, never had a tea like this.

Jing Tea Shop Yixing red. Trying something different, still brewing it in my Hong cha pot, but I am using my Daisen Yaki Yunomi as a cup. Though the full pot fills less than a third of the yunomi.

Darjeeling Namring 2012 best grade

Teas from plantations in Darjeeling Namring are valued for their uniqueness and peculiar delicacy, despite excellent features slightly acute fresh tea with a pleasant aftertaste that fills the mouth a long time.

This year's Namring tea is surprisingly full of delicate and very pleasant, not overbearing bitterness manifests itself only in the second interesting part of the tasting tea.

from http://www.eherbata.pl

13$/50g

best 2012 FF for me.

2012 First Flush Namring SFTGFOP1 DJ1 from Mariage Freres.

Has all the characteristics, flavor, taste, and aroma associated with a First Flush Darjeeling. Very minimal astringency yet full of body. Waiting for the Namring Upper to arrive.
