Jingteashop stocks an 'everyday' Yunnan Gold for $4.99/100g. I just finished off the last few grams a couple of weeks ago and enjoyed it to the point of not enjoying it very often for fear of finishing it - definitely something more than everyday tea and definitely worth the price.

SUPER tippy and totally gold dry leaf, yielding an intensely malty yet complex and multi-tonal liquor. I had 2 cups this afternoon, perfect yunnan-
Looks much like that yunnan sourcing picture, totally gold tips, and very fluffy
Cool, I like it when post contain pics! The tea sound delightful btw!

Sad change
Has anyone else noticed a sharp change in Adagio's Yunnan Gold? This has been by far my favorite tea for a long time, but the most recent batch I ordered was far less golden and quite musty flavored; I didn't enjoy it much at all.
Whoa!!! I am late to this party, but wow!!
I just had my first Yunnan Gold this morning and ummm WOW.
I don't know how I missed this one before. I love that soft peppery taste, so smooth, lots of body, nice finish. I am truly smitten. I wish I had brought some to work.
Now at a time when I am trying to wean off Chinese teas, figures.

I noticed a sharp change in the quality of the Yunnan Gold from Adagio as well.
This was my favorite tea from Adagio and I'm extremely disappointed with the last batch I received. Its much darker, much mustier, and the taste is way less refined. What the heck happened? Did they get a new supplier? Are they going to switch back? Is there someone else I can go to for a Yunnan that is closer to what the Adagio one used to be?
I drink this stuff almost every day but I can barely stomach the stuff I just received.

Can someone tell me how Adagio Yunnan Gold fares with re-steeps? I just received my shipment of 20 samples on Thursday and I have tried five of the teas already. Though I have always preferred Indian teas, I have to admit that the Yunnan Gold has been my favorite so far. Of course, I still have both Darjeelings, an Assam and a Ceylon (and all the Oolongs) to try so I might find one I prefer better. I did not enjoy the Li Zi Nutcracker (green) and my husband who prefers greens to any other was not enthusiastic about it either.
Anyhow, does the YG do okay with two or three steeps?

It is a mater of personnal taste and also of the quantityn of leavsvs water you used for the first infusion. I can have two steeps of Yunnan Golden tips (not from adagio as I live in France), no more because I don't like my tea too weak.Beanbean wrote:

Drank my first Yunnan yesterday, not Yunnan Gold, Yunnan FOP. It smelled of wood, smoke and spice. The taste was the "classic black taste" but was also a little smokey with a hint of cinnamon. I like the fact that it is not bitter at all. Today I did a REALLY dark steeping and tasted like Lapsang - but way better.
Next time I'll buy Yunnan Gold. If it's better than Yunnan FOP, it has to be lovely
