Anyone else here NOT like Earl Grey black tea?

Perhaps I'm crazy (which is highly probable) but I can't bring myself to enjoy Earl Grey black tea tea. Every EG I am tried has made me gag and I can't quite explain why.

Is there any other tea lovers out there who don't like ol' Earl or am I the only one?

I can enjoy the scent of Bergamot, but bot the taste.

I'm pretty much in agreement with Eastree. The taste... is just too much.

Hmm, I have to agree that it does smell nice but as you guys have pointed out, it is a bit much, which is similar to my impression of Jasmine teas or any floral teas for that matter.

When it comes to black tea, I like it best pure and unadulterated. No flavor!

I like flavor but I haven't wanted the Earl Grey flavor for years. I also don't like Jasmine. There will always be someone who likes what you don't and someone with the same feelings as you.

It's nice to know I'm not alone. I really enjoy black tea but I do not like Earl Grey either (or anything floral). Don't even like the smell of it. I read tea descriptions very carefully before ordering. Thankfully there's plenty of variety for all of us.

My father used to brew Earl Grey very strong. It resulted in one of the most terrible teas I have ever tasted. Just thinking about it makes me twitch.

I enjoy Earl Grey. I'm not a big black tea fan, plain blacks like English or Irish Breakfast just bore me and aren't very tasty. I think the bergamot adds a nice flavor to boring black tea. Adagio's Earl Grey is actually the only black I have right now, and unless I feel like trying a higher quality black like yunnan gold at some point, it probably will be the only black I ever have on hand.

Most earl greys I have had are too strong with the bergamot, leading me to believe the cheaper the tea, the heavier the bergamot.

I've had some acceptable ones, but most are too strong for me to drink.

I enjoy a good earl grey, and have to admit it is one of the reasons I drink loose leaf teas. But a lot of the blends are too bergamot-y for my taste, and I have finally accepted that it is okay for me to blend them down. And well, thus embrace the tea happiness.

That being said - strong earl grey is the only tea that routinely makes me ill. I absolutely can not drink it on an empty stomach.
