That has to suck. I can drink 5 pots of tea and go right to bed. Of course, I've been drinking Chinese Tea heavily for a long time. That might have something to do with it.

I'm usually okay if my last cup is before 7. Last week I got some new tea in and just had to try some at 9:30 p.m. HUGE mistake! I tossed and turned all night and the next day of work was tough.

I told my husband that if he saw me drinking tea after 7 to pry the cup out of my hand. :D

I think if I might be OK, but I get second wind late at night and tea would more likely contribute than relaxzzz me. So, I abstain after 7ish, except for SLT (4th steep or later, soggy leaf tea) or low caffeine teas such as houjicha or grain teas such as mugicha.

7ish would be great! It's 3 pm here and if I drink more tea, mild-mannered green tea at that, I'll have trouble sleeping tonight. I never drank coffee and I wonder if drinking coffee builds your immunity to caffeine so that you can take tea in stride.

One recommendation for rooibos would be rooibos chai. My favorite is from Harneys.

No, I came from drinking coffee, coffee has the same effect, and tea did not lessen it.

Very funny, but true.

No problem with sleep when drinking tea at night. I guess starting drinking Oolong tea when I was a kid helped.

Last night I held myself hard from the beautiful Qian Li Xiang package sent from Tead off. It was hard  I drank some left over, 4-6 infusion Yunnan red tea and went to bed just a little past mid night. Holidays are coming and I will have many whole days to enjoy great tea at day time :D

I also heard shu puerh wouldn't affect people's sleep. But I currently don't enjoy it. Someone even told me old sheng puerh wouldn't cause sleep problem. I enjoyed some 3-year old sheng and I guess it was not old enough :P

Thank goodness for SLT, soggy leaf tea, aka the remains of the day ... I always try to have some around for the evenings/nights.

Shu gets me rolling more than any other tea. Its really effective for me if I need to stay awake, but it also speeds up digestion. For me that means I have to eat a lot because I'm always hungry. So if I stay up late need to plan for second dinner.

No way I could sleep if I drank shu that late.

Maybe you could drink some regular tea and then drink some sleepy time tea or camamile to balance things out :P

I try to time out my brewing so I can drink a 2nd,3rd or 4th infusion of a tea in the evening before bed so hopefully most of the caffeine has been infused out. I never start a 1st infusion after 7pm.

I guess I am lucky in that caffine really does not affect me. I can drink something strong like Lapsong Souchang right before bed and still manage to drift off at my normal time.
