In the "sad news" department................
Thought I'd put a little note in here (not sure where is appropriate) due to his connection to tea and teaware. Some of you may own his book. A friend, colleague, ceramicst, NH ceramics professor, and author...... Marvin Sweet passed away suddenly this past weekend.
Marvin lectured extensively on the history and culture of tea, was a well known expert on, and collector of Yixing ware, and was the author of "The Yixing Effect." Recently he was a featured speaker at the Seattle, WA Public Library for a symposium: "The Yixing Influence on Contemporary American Ceramics". He ran the ceramics program at St. Anselm's College in Manchester, NH and before that taught at UNH.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 3, 1PM at the Essex (MA) Art Center. (http://www.essexartcenter.com/)
