3 a day, sometimes 4. One cup after every meal, and the extra cup is usually late at night.

I feel like a tea newbie. I usually get about 4-6 cups a day. I have a question. The teeth staining that has happened, is it with the black teas only or all teas?

I notice it more with black tea, but hear pu-erh will alo stain teeth a lot.

I think I heard Mary say something about not drinking tea within the first half hour or so after brushing in order to reduce staining.

That does sound like something I'd say, doesn't it?

Next time you go to your dentist, ask his/her advice. Mine came up with the "no drinking for 30 min after brushing" rule. He also advocated a whitening toothpaste, 3x day brushing, and an occasional brushing with regular baking soda.

My dentist is kind of a hippie. He's really big on exhausting home remedies and such before pulling out the big guns. In this case, the big guns are whitening treatments. He said if I was über-paranoid about staining (I'm not) that a professional annual whitening treatment would likely be the most effective. If, however, I was to say...splurge on Crest strips, they would be a once a month treatment AT THE MOST. Preferably once every 3 months, really. (He knows I have a younger brother who uses them weekly. )

But that was the advice MY dentist gave ME...and any sort of medical advice really shouldn't be given second hand, so talk to your own.

I've got my cleaning and check-up scheduled for about 3 weeks from now. When I go, I'll ask my dentist what his advice is.

On a typical day I will have anywhere from 15-25 (4.oz) cups. So, anywhere from 8-12 (8oz. cups), some days more, some days less, but I would say I average about 20 cups a day of the 4oz. cups.

I drink usually 1.5 to 2.5l of tea per day

I have between 3 and 6 teas a day.

The total quantity depends on the tea, counting multiple steeps:
Matcha 2-3 oz
Gyokuro 9-15 oz
Puer and Oolongs 12-20 oz
Other 16-20 oz
