As I had mentioned in a subsequent post, I didn't know where the terms had came from. I just thought that it would be a useful tool for the forum. The terms were given to me by a friend in a doc with no name of the author. I want to make this unambigously clear, I never did take credit for any of the terms and made this quite apparent in subsequent post. However, until proper authorization is given, I felt it is prudent to redact this post. I apologize to anyone who may have been offended and to Lew Perin.

Just to be proper, one should cite the source. It looks like the terms are taken from Lew Perin's babelcarp which is located at http://www.panix.com/~perin/babelcarp.cgi

Yes it is a great tool! But I did not get the terms from the site listed above. However, thanks for the link! It is also a nice tool! I do not know where the terms came from. They were given to me by a friend on a doc, of which I scanned and pasted in the forum.

hmmm - I'm not liking the use of the babelcarp site - does anyone else have a pronunciation & definiton guide link?

To the readers of TeaChat: This is Lew Perin speaking. I would have posted via my own account, but three attempts to register on this site all failed. So I'm taking advantage of the kindness of a pre-existing member to post this message.

Someone identified as hop_goblin posted, under the heading "Chinese and Taiwan tea dictionary for your use", a long message (http://www.teachat.com/viewtopic.php?p=14028) that is an unauthorized verbatim copy of my work. As some of you know, and as one poster has already pointed out in response to the "Chinese and Taiwan..." post, my web site Babelcarp allows a user to type or paste a Chinese tea term and get it defined. Whoever assembled the text of that post must have repeatedly queried Babelcarp a couple of years ago (when its database was about half the size it is now) and hit "Next entry" repeatedly, cutting and pasting the definitions.

Babelcarp (http://www.panix.com/~perin/babelcarp.html) is not a static text page but a web application, backed by a database, that produces definitions, often with Chinese characters, and often with links to definitions of related terms. It is under constant development, with new definitions and corrections of old ones applied frequently. Not only that, but from time to time I develop new features allowing the program to "behave" differently. So a static snapshot of Babelcarp becomes stale as time goes by.

I am not necessarily opposed to static snapshots of Babelcarp's database, but a snapshot of Babelcarp is a gigantic web page, and I am unwilling to pay for the necessary bandwidth.

I am opposed, though, to copying of my work without proper credit given me.
