as I'm always on the lookout for crafty ideas, I was wondering if anyone has come up with any cool craft ideas using the sample tins?

One idea I have right now is to repaint the tins and fill them with little trinkets, toys, etc as a quick gift idea.

I was also wondering if anyone has tried making travel candles out of them and how that worked out.

I haven't actually tried to, but I always thought they would make really nice small candle holders.

They're great for storage of other small samples of tea, and for screws and such.

Yes, or emergency candles, like for a emergency preparedness kit. We have lived in Indy for a year and have experienced more power outages than I can count - all lasting over 3 hours. Every time we can't find flashlights and I don't use candles frequently so we sit in the dark.

Glue a magnet on the bottom to stick to the fridge/metal file cabinet to hold small stuff (the sample tins are so small for household/office stuff.

I took one container and decoupaged bits left over from some scrapbooking (wrapping paper works, too) to cover it. It now sits in my knitting bag and holds my rubber stitch markers for me. I'm thinking of making a few more for my other knitting bags (yes, I am a multiple knitter ).

I love the idea of the travel candles! Also, they're great for transporting spices (I find myself cooking at other people's house quite frequently, and they don't have the stuff I need), jewelry. If you're a crafter- they're great for holding tiny notions, beads, and trim.


I like the idea of painting the boxes and filling them with little trinkets- that makes a lovely little gift to slip to someone- a nice surprise. Also, taking that idea, paint them and put someone's name on it, with mints or candy or whatever and use them as place markers for Thanksgiving or for holiday dinner.

The sample tins have been perfect for taking tea to the office. I wash & dry them then fill them back up with my favorites of the week. This way, I always have tea at home & at work.

I also use the tins to store small quantitties of tea.

I use them while traveling to take tea along. Works well for short trips (1-3 days).
