Kigo for November

by tomasini » Nov 16th, '07, 23:55

I find Japanese Poetry, and much of it just found in Chado is beautifully written..I just thought I'd share some of the Kigo for November...

Ara tanoshi / fuyu tatsu mado no / kama no oto

What joy! The first day of winter and the sound of a kettle singing is heard froma window.

-Onitsura

This is my favorite....

Kirigirisu / nakuya shimo-yo no / sa-mushiro ni / koromo kata-shiki / hitori kamo nen

A cricket is chirping and there is a frost tonight; on the straw mat with only one garment for warmth am I supposed to sleep alone?

Hey Tomasini- Thanks for the poems, I love Japanese poetry. Here is my favorite senryu for this time of year

かくれんぼ kakurenbo
三つ数えて mittsu kazoete
冬になる fuyu ni naru

Hide and seek
Count to three
Winter comes
