I have recently been asked by the misses (Gardner of the family) if I would like to grow my own tea? (she is trying to get me involved in her hobby, which I think is great.) I have searched around and cannot find that much info on the subject.

Any one have some info on growing, preoaring, drying, etc.... ?

Thanks! I asked about this a while back. My interest is growing a plant or two for ornamental purposes. I don't have space and live to far north to plant enough to harvest.

from what i have read. these do well if you keep them indoors in front of a window.
I would imagine that is would be worth trying. our local nursery has a few that are matured. not sure of the price but google got me right to it once you use the proper name.

If it is purely ornamental would you not be better off with a flowering Camellia Japonica

I was also interested in growing my own, but for me it's only possible indoors.

AH really cool guys. I love working with my hands and growing stuff. Growing some spearmint (for tea), onions, peppers and other other cooking herbs right now.

Says I'm in a perfect area to grow some tea. Btw where did you get your seeds?

we decided against ti since our cats like to play in the garden and have been known to eat some of our plants.... we would have some very caffeinated cats if they were to consume it. lol

It's prime first picking season, so I'm sure they'll hold on to the plants until they can get more at the end of June.
