One of the intentionally aged teas, Pu-Erh has a loyal following.

thanks, but shipping is a little expensive to Canada from that shop. I'm curious more about regions and years of production that I should be focusing in on, key words in descriptions i can use to help me identify and narrow down my search. Thanks!

our shipping is cheap but we are lazy assholes for uplouad EMS system , anyway, the shop I recommend you can be nice for start, with low shipping if you both are in the same place...

The 2008 cake http://waitteahouse.com/products/pu-er- ... -sheng-tea should be Menghai area tea, but is unknown factory using logo "look like" Xinghai TF,,,, hard to say something more. But from the photo of cake, dont look like "Old tea tree".

chinatown update: So I went to chinatown East to check it out. Bad time to go. Many stores closed for New Year Celebrations. The only thing I found was a cheap no name shu at a supermarket, which I did not buy.

Trying to find Pu-Erh, in Canada, during Chinese New Year, is not an easy task it turns out...

Thank heavens for my Jalam Teas subscription or I'd be going absolutely nuts!

But here's my starting point:

Ordered a 7542 and a V93 from ebay, will be shipped after Chinese New Year :/

Just received 2 jalam tea young shengs from Bulang/bada, 1 Jalam Shu.

Ordered Yunnan Sourcing tea club, not sure when will be shipped.

Will be placing an order for samples from Yunnan Sourcing for samples from the following regions:

-Yi Wu
-Jing Mai
-You le

Also will be picking one of these up:

finally - order 2 books from amazon: PuEr and Tea Horse Road.

Is there ANYTHING I missed?! :)

only one way to find out! I've never ordered from ebay either, so will be a good test. It's the only place I could find the teas I wanted with free/reasonable shipping to Canada.

Here are the books:

By the way, honza = chawanghop.com

Yes, lots of quality affordable teas
If Honza = chawangshop.com try the Hekai 2015 gushu, a very nice daily drinker.

Hi folks! So many people are mentioning Chawang and Yunnan Sourcing - and these are two places with reasonable delivery charges to Toronto. So, I ask for your collective wisdom:

I'm looking for a very young Sheng. I like BITTER up front. very bitter. I can take it. Then flowers and sweetness. Then a nice aftertaste that comes back up my throat and begs me to drink more. I like my tea STRONG. To make me feel energetic. I've had bulang and bada and Zhang and really liked it. But am open to any region that has the above characteristics. My price point is 20-30 bucks american before shipping.

Can anyone recommend a 357 g cake from the above places for that price?

Thanks!

Have you tried Lao Man'e yet ? I am the same boat in liking bold up front teas. I have Yiwu and Mengsong and HeKai that I partake of but Bulang , Bada, NaNuo I tend to like as well. I am drinking a 2015 Menghai NaNuo currently that is amped up a bit. The material is darker than most other Dayi young shengs.

It's a different are that tea is produced from. Some say it is akin to turpentine.
Here is one I sampled a while back. Not an inexpensive tea for sure.

Not sure if it's the same or not. Ban Pen village is in between Bulang and Lao Man E and the profiles may be a bit similar. I hate to recommend because everyone has different taste profiles. Mang Fei is another one that has a good punch as well normally. I would stick to the Spring productions as they usually have more oomph to them in my taste.
