I'm going to order a scale to use and was wondering what scale others may use and like dislike of them.

The kitchen scale I use now doesn't do .1 of a grams, and I want one that does. Size needs to be large enough its easy to use and read, fat thumbs, bad eyes...

... and I really like it. It has great reviews on Amazon, free shipping (if you have Amazon prime), and there are two lids that fit over it that act as nice "containers" for putting the tea in after you tare it. It goes from 0.1 to 1000 grams, so weighing entire cakes/bricks is possible. It has a 10 year warranty and is powered by two AA batteries. Also, it is very portable and easy to transport (folds up into a nice square).

The only drawback was that it requires a 500g weight to calibrate it. I bought this from Amazon too ...

... so the total came to ~$17.47 shipped. Not bad, especially since you'll never need to worry about calibration so long as you have the weight.

I own one of those as well, I'm happy with it though it sometimes is a little inexact(same amount of tea can sometimes read 0.2g apart), don't know how much accuracy you need, ciphoto. =)

I've look at both those at http://www.americanweigh.com/ looks like Amazon pricing is weigh better...

+ - .1/.2 isn't bad, but the scale I use now only does whole grams, and is in need of calibration/replacement, cause often the same amount varies a gram or more when put on and off the scale...

6+ years and I just replaced my battery for the first time with OTTI 14 weighing.

It is virtually never off ... unless a leaf manages to find its way under the weighing surface.

Though I am a bit embarrassed to say, I purchased it from Upton and paid too much for it (I recall something like 40 USD) ... but it has proven to be quite worth it. It also weighs to .05 grams for the really A.R./OCD TeaScientists out there.

It uses a 200 g weight for calibration (quite inexpensive if I recall), has a very generous capacity for a pocket scale (550 g x 0.1 g), comes with a rubber pad for stability, and seems accurate. The manufacturers are unresponsive jerks but it's a great little scale and has never given me even the suggestion of a problem. I think it's a great deal. And like Chip, I have yet to replace the (two AAA) batteries. FWIW, the lid is removable and can be used as a tray for weighing (I never use it but felt it was worth mentioning).

I also have the one from Yunnan Sourcing and it has worked fine. I did drop it once and the screen slid over. It wouldn't turn on....I pulled out the batteries and put them back and it started just fine....close call. Recommended for the price.

I used the scale tst mentioned. I got it from amazon. Great scale. I used it to weigh coffee for pourover or espresso.
