Chen Yun Hao Guafengzhai.

Chen Yun Hao Yiwu from '03 marks the true start of high end single estate teas, and the brand has been producing tea since '01.

So this is pretty top stuff of teas available for the broader market.

I know, some will find it ridiculous, but today I have had this experience with a sample of the dirt-cheap 2012 MGH 1205 "Menghai Green" Brick I received for free from puerhshop. I am sure there is no old tree stuff in this brick, and it may contain some plantation leaves. Nevertheless, the power of this tea is overwhelming. It is totally "aggressive, in your face, and long lasting": I have had 21 steepings from it (many immediate ones, and the last one only 2 minutes), my personal record. It nearly gave me a caffeine rush, something I have never experienced before from a tea. As for the taste, it is rather simple, but thick and deep.

As far as I can tell, the only thing that truly matters is if you enjoy the tea!

I guess this '06 Lao Banzhang from Xizhihao kinda qualifies as a "high energy" tea. The one pictured below is the "yin" version.

And they seemed so expensive back then. Still holding on to my "97 and 2001 XZH test pressings...

Who knows, we might say the same thing with some of the expensive 2011 and 2012 cakes in a few years time.

Yes, I agree. My note says I paid $60 per beeng back in early 2007. Not that I bought it as an "investment", but I'm curious how much it would go for today.
