On one hand, that's certainly true. On the other hand, wines tend to age quite differently. Chateauneuf du Pape/Languedoc from the 90s may be aged in a very comforting way, while some of the 90s Bordeaux are still taste quite young. Even in Bordeaux, the differences are large. Emilion around 2000 will probably be older-than-young, but some other regions around 2000 still taste, smell and look very young.

i'm from Languedoc and technically Châteauneuf-du-Pape is in the Vaucluse departement which is located in the "Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur" region... but well it's not very important...

Ah, I did not mean to imply that CDP is in Languedoc... I ment that both wines from Languedoc and CDP age somewhat quicker than Bordeaux.

I didn't say that it was easy to guess the age. I don't want to pose as a wine specialist which I am not.

But, different cepages (=cultivars) are used in different regions, and they evolve differently. It is not that hard with a little of habit to tell where the wine comes from by recognizing the cepage(s) used. Mouthfeel can tell you a lot also about the age. Of course some millesimes are tougher to guess than others.

Bordeaux is very problematic because wine there is now tweaked in order to get good marks from Parker. So they use different techniques in order to make a young Bordeaux drinkable, which would usually happen after many years. As for tea, a lot of traditional know-how is lost to this (immediate profit). Prices rise too, but not necessarily the quality.

Languedoc is a wide region with different kind of wines like banyuls, corbières, saint-chinian, muscat... what we use to call languedoc wines aren't wines you're going to keep many time, that's right, but in the recent past some efforts have been made to improve a few of them and some domains have more potential than they used to have like, for example, Costières de Nîmes.
IMO Châteauneuf-du-Pape is more comparable to the other side of Côtes-du-rhône: Hermitage, Cornas, Côte-Rôtie, things like that with more potential

Technically you're absolutely right but AOC wise only surrounding area of village of Châteauneuf-du-Pape and few neighboring villages like Sorgues Bédarrides and Courthézon all in around 30 sq km considered as Châteauneuf-du-Pape AOC and belongs to Rhône wine region.
