Yes. This could be one of the reasons that XG 8653 2013 went from 32-35RMB to 45-55RMB.

Someone seems to be buying out 8653 2010 as last month, I got one for 38 now it's 48RMB, one of the main sellers on TB even pricing it at 65RMB

Post '03 and especially post '05 Dayi is a ripoff, and even more, there is precious little quality premium in return for the cost premiums of their better cakes. For example, right now, my V93 '08 is pretty much better than the '09 Dragon Pole in most respect, and in any judgment, there isn't any real difference in quality, overall--but the Dragon Pole costs more than twice the V93, last I checked, per gram. Same with most of their green cakes, too.

this is totally a rip off. i thought the year of snake commemorative cake at RMB390 is crazy. this really top it off. i bet others like 8582 will almost double its price too.

I think the snake cake is selling now >400RMB from reputable seller

The speculation are making XG prices go crazy too. The 2013 8653 was out 2 months ago for 35-38RM now a lot selling 42-50RMB.

The Snake cake is quite good, at least...

That may be so - it's probably overpriced, I agree. However, I think it should become a very good tea in future, which I'm not so sure about when drinking young 7542s, etc.

Snake is at 388 rmb from the TB shop I normally source my Dayi cakes. I think from any Dayi flagship store would be well over 400 rmb.

2008 was around the time was when economy downturn. Gold prices been dipping, maybe the speculators offload on gold and buy pu erh (j/k, it's due to other reasons). Stocks speculation in my country also been active since last quarter of last year.

All I'm saying it's likely linked to the economy. Public speculation stop when economy goes bad As always, when economy goes bad, those with cash to spend likely to get the best deal

CL from Guangzhou? Just a word of caution if you buy old tea from them, especially if you only like dry stored. I recall reading people complain about their storage for different cakes before.

I only buy new cakes from them and I see no problem, but not old tea. Their old stuffs aren't that reliable.
