Dayi 2004 7542 with strange "R" mark

Have anyone come across this 2004 7542? Kind of strange because the "R" is crooked as opposed to most other 7542 which come with straight 'R". Strange?

Looks kind of plain for a Dayi cake. Maybe it is "R" for "ripoff."

Disclaimer: I have no idea what I'm talking about.

Quite similar to the official documented wrapper except the dot is out of the circle in the documented version. The official piece is also 357gm.

Nevertheless a wrapper can be faked easily or different batch may have some variation in print. Best way to tell is to look at the tea leaves and drink the tea.

Cake looks dark and little reddish with aged smell but no aroma. Tasted the tea, no smokiness, no bitterness, little astringency, mellow but light 7542 aroma but flat after the 8th infusions.
The cake is 2003 7542 Red Dayi batch 310 as claimed?
Got this picture from the Taiwan version of the yearbook.
Any comments?

No comment on this tea.
But this reminds me of another story. A member of the editing committee of these year books (but not an editor of exactly this book) recently wrote about him buying a 7542 that looked almost 100% like authentic and returning it after brewing several crumbs from the cake. If he couldn't tell without tasting, I guess almost nobody could tell without tasting. And many people can't tell for sure with tasting.

8 of us which include 4 experience Dayi collectors, tasted the sample twice and none could tell it is from Dayi or like the tea before it was identified. Not surprise there are some bad apples in the piles.

The site that you took the pictures from (your first post) clearly labeled it as a 2004 red ribbon 7542, which is not the same as this 2003 version in the yearbook. So which one is it?

Either way, packaging is a terrible way of IDing a tea. If it tastes like crap it doesn't really matter if it's really is Dayi, does it?
