We also had a story previously of somebody who had stored a tea with a strong spice (I believe it was cloves). There was likely no amount of airing out that was going to rescue that particular tea...
That was me. It ended up in the garbage.

To repair a tea, simply place it outside in a shady place on a mild day for a few days or longer if necessary. If it is badly affected, break it up into small pieces. This technique does not always work but is often successful at removing unwanted odours.
It might be worth to try, if nothing else, just with a small piece of the cake.
Who knows, I don't have much else to loose anyway. Thanks for trying to help. Maybe the most knowledgeable had an experience with this and can let us know if they had tried something like this to remove odours.

Take care.
Break off enough to brew and air that piece out and see if it works :)

Thanks guys.

Drax, I'm afraid this is one of the pervasive ones. But perhaps there's hope.
I will leave some broken pieces in a wide tin ,not tightly seal, and hope for the best in a few months luckily..,

Sorry to hear about your wasted tea Tead off. Maybe mine will end up the same. Such a waste :(
