Hey all,
I am looking at getting a hygrometer to keep an eye on my relative humidity for pu-erh storage.
Do you have one that you can recommend? How have you calibrated it?
Any thoughts on or experiences with hygrometers that you can share are also greatly appreciated!
peace,
bellmont
Re: Hygrometer Recommendation
Whatever you do, stray away from the $6 (free shipping from HK included) analog golden ones that can be found on Ebay. I recently picked up two, thinking they would probably be off a bit but at least do an okay job. I did the salt test, and they were both +/- 10% off, which would have been okay if the calibration mechanism worked. Instead, trying to use it completely ruined them. At least I was refunded 50% of the price...
Sorry for the rant. I'm interested in a recommendation too, preferably something small (so they can be placed inside my containers), and if analog something that has a functioning calibration mechanism.

These have worked well for me. The hygrometer was only 2% low.

Re: Hygrometer Recommendation
I use a $6 cheapo bought on ebay from China. 2 years and still working well. Only hassle is that the shipping took a month to get here, and I'm almost next door! No need to spend a lot on this.
Re: Hygrometer Recommendation
I have a nine-dollar digital Chinese cheapo that I bought in KL with a typical KL markup. I actually bought three (and later sold one to a friend) in order to compare the readings and fortunately they all gave nearly identical readings. So, as Teadoff wrote, I think you're OK going cheap on a hygrometer. It gives temp, RH%, the time, and the high and low RH for the last 24 hours, which is nice to know since I'm not going to get up in the middle of the night to check it.

It was very simple and they were already close to accuratebellmont wrote:
