Vote (not by me) for Spirit of Yiwu, and Best of Puerhshop.

I do love me some Yiwu, and I would have voted for it... but I already have three of those sitting on my shelf. I wouldn't mind if that got chosen though!

I like the look of the "best of" sampler as well, but I think one of the original intents was to find the best of the cheap pu's, as it were. Some of those "best of" beengs are $50 range, a little steep for every day drinking (at least for me).
Perhaps we could start with one of the lower cost ones and move on to that if there is interest? Or we could just create a thread for each sampler set, and all go hog wild ordering whatever we want?

I also like the idea of exploring the inexpensive stuff first. I am in bargain hunting mode.... and of course we can always branch out in 2 weeks or 2 months or whatever.

Hmmm.... I might go with "taste of yiwu", but more than likely I'll skip the puershop sampling and order some cheaper cakes from one of the ebay vendors and post reviews on and trade samples with those who would be interested. What can I say, I never seem to follow the crowd.

I vote for Mellowness. I very much want to participate and make this a bit more international :)

I'm down for that too. Just no Bond #9 -- or pu with a similar price point.

I'm doing my best to keep my purchases under $20 per cake with a few exceptions of course.

If you rank raw puerh by price on Yunnan Sourcing (something I just did for the first time a couple days ago) you will find all kinds of really low-priced bings. I am motivated by cheap puerh. Scott may even be willing to direct us toward a couple that he thinks are better within that range.

An email has now been sent to Scott. Time to start doing some tastings and writing some reviews.

That all sounds great. WELSI, what do you think, should Trioxin (and the rest of us) start a new thread for each different tea reviewed? This is getting more exciting every day!

I think that it would be best to have a thread for each shop in that case.

So if you do buy some beengs from Scott at YSLLC, start up a thread titled something like "YSLLC Reviews" and we all can scribble out thoughts on his stuff in there.

Coming back to the puerhshop tasting, it seems as if the package the most love is being showed for is "Taste of Mellowness." Anybody feel strongly against having this tasting first?

Actually I noticed someone in LiveTeaChat mentioned that "Taste of Mellowness" is all cooked pu. I didn't realize that until now. Personally I would prefer to start with raw puerh. So I am changing my vote to:
- Best of Puerh Shop or Spirit of Yiwu

But I will go with majority decision :D - this is too much fun.

When will we finalize our choice?

Very soon we will finalize. So it seems we're having changes of heart about the shu taste of mellowness. Maybe we should start with some sheng first, and also please the people who would like to start cheap (me being one of them as well). I think to accord with these things the "Year of Green Puerh" would be an excellent choice. Only $12! It also has that intriguing feet of crab sample, which you can be sure we'll be some of the only ones to put up reviews of.

What say ye? Year of Green Puerh? All sheng, and one (2006 Arbor Yinhao Tuocha ) that I already know is good, enjoyed by hop goblin and myself.
