Will the 10% bleach in your bucket actually spoil the bing? Bleach is a little smelly, but it seems to not spoil other things in general once the chlorine gas has dissipated. Might solve the mold problem and simplify matters at the same time.... but I wouldn't try in on that 50's red mark... :D

Hop, your method may be the solution for me. Are you still using it? How is the mold problem?

I'm glad it's still working for you! I ended up scrapping it after a couple of weeks. It was still dripping a little, but more concerning, it developed a devasting 'funky' smell. I was even changing the water every couple days. My best guess is that the rope fibers were coated or impregnated with some chemical or organic substance because that smell just wasn't right!

I'm thinking about investing in the Hydra Humidifier for cigars to see if I can get some better elevation in the humidity.

I live in a dry environ. Now my pu fits in a drawer but I see the day when my collection will outgrow its present confines. Looking into the Pumidor or configured closet options.

My question is, if I do not add humidity, the only downside will be that it takes more time for my Pu to age?

Another question: do you all keep your cakes in their original wrappers after cutting into them? Just wrap them back up?? I have been keeping them in zip-lock bags, but unzipped to keep out moisture build-up.

Tacobell, you're fist question is what I have been wondering ever since I started collecting, no one seems to know. ?????
Get your cakes out of the ziplocks now!!!!! Even if they are open you are not letting the whole cake get proper ventilation. Also plastic gives tea a funky taste, so I would highly suggest you get them out asap.
