One of the intentionally aged teas, Pu-Erh has a loyal following.

Another update to the from page reviewing the 2008 Guoyan Queen of Yi Wu.

and just for Sal...

2008 Guoyan "Queen of Yi Wu" Premium Raw Pu-erh
11/10/08 First of all, this is a beautiful cake. I've always liked the look of the larger leaf beengs. The same quality leaves are used throughout this light to medium stone pressed cake. I've had two sessions now with this cake, and while I do like it, I find it to be a little light. I need to do a third session with a bit more leaf and see how it turns out. But, it is a quality tea. It has a very full mouth feel, and a wonderful lingering aftertaste. Very smooth, mellow and easy to drink. I have a feeling this one can be wonderful, I just need to play with it a bit more to get it right, so check back soon for an update.

How much leaf are you using for that one trioxin?

5 grams of leaf into 4oz of water. Seems though there are a lot of stem attached to those leaves, so I'm thinking I may need to make up for it with an extra gram.

I will take note of that for when I get my sample and try it.

Same goes for the "Deep Mountain, Old Tree" if you got a sample of that as well.

First I have to learn how to brew shous properly (and shengs too), I´m practicing with a ripe tangerine stuffed and I can´t obtain "regular" tasting brewings.

Update to the 2003 CNNP

Now that its been able to air out in the humidor, I decided to give this one a try again today. Completely different tea. The smokiness has now slipped into the background. I'm not sure why this sample tastes so different now. The brew now exhibits a similar taste to the other Yi Wu Pu-erh that I've tried. Nice lighter more buttery flavor, no bitterness, a touch of sweetness, and a thicker brew that coats your tongue.

Boy, that enormous post of yours at the head of this thread is becoming quite a valuable resource! Congrats on a great design idea.

Mmm, by the way, I am in a second infusion of a sample of this Hai Lang Hao Lao Ban Zhang & Man'E cake. It's really very different from the light stuff I have been drinking lately and has some assertive bass notes. I'm curious to hear what Thanks is going to say about it.

Now, would I be willing to spend $56 on a 2008 cake? ... that is a whole different question!

It is starting to become quit long, isn't it. I wish we could have our own blogs as other sites do, where we could list out tasting notes and reviews. It would be great to be able to browse everyones notes.

I wish I had a sample on the way, but I didn't even want to be tempted to think about spending that much on a brand new cake! If anyone could do it, it'd be Hai Lang Hao.

Trioxin, if you want you can throw my stuff up on the first page, and then you could put your notes for people to get multiple opinions. I'm starting my reviews of the whole Menghai Peacock series, so that should be up in the Peacock thread within the week. Also I could write notes for the 7582, 8582, the Dayi Silver, the 7532, the 0622, and that 9$ Hai Lang Hao Jingmai brick from 08. I'm just gonna start a blog soon.

That would be quite an interesting feature. What other sites have such a tool?

As long as I have your permission, I'd love to throw your notes on the front page with mine, along with anyone else who'd want their reviews on the front page. Should also probably find some nice way to organize them.
