I may have hit the jackpot on this last buy. It might be fake, but the labels and packaging look good. Being 2005, I don't think they have the holograms on the labels yet. I picked up 2 kilos .

The asian haul -

Image

top left, "Anniversary" pot from Chang Nai-Miao Memorial Hall - they make 50 a year from imported clay. The bamboo wrapped bricked when opened has no wrapper or neifi. Looks like big leaves, mixed between tobacoo colored and black. Breaks apart very easily. Next, unnamed 500g brick, then Korean bought 1980's shu, tea jars. 2005 V93, unkown year 7562 (Blue Stamp), 2007 Xiagan Tibetan Flame bricks, 1994 sheng, bigger tea jar. Chang Nai-Miao Memorial Hall oolongs, the second one is charcoal rosted. A small tea boat.

The tea jars. Lots of tea jars, would have loved to buy millions of these, but no way to get home a lot of them or the big nice ones they had. The jars and tea boat cost US $25.00. A whole 250g tibetan brick fit in the larger one when broken up, the smaller one could not quite hold the v93 broken up.

Image

The v93 broken up - very easy to seperate by hand, layers pulled apart, tobaco colored leaves mixed in with what seems to be lots of big leaves. Very long lasting brewing, did not die too quickly, decent taste, smooth and full bodied mouth feel.

Perfect timing, I was going to ask how the V93 turned out... sounds good.

Looks like a great haul... love the jars! They look so shiny, but they are actually clay?

The jars are red clay, not the brick red, but a duller red. The outside is glazed with incised (non-glazed) designs. Fairly loose fitting lids. I broke up the shu to get it aired out and do a bit more oxidiation. As a shu, 7 years seems to be a god point to enjoy this. I thik it would benfit from a few more years to get the (possible sheng) optimized.

I am very happy with the v93. I really think it is the 2005 - which was the first year and sells for a bit silly money. It comes apart like a nice 1990's bing. My tea kettle holds 50 oz and I refilled it and got a few more brews out of it and even then the tea was still a reasonablly orangish brown - ncould go on for a few more infususion. I used probably 7 grams of tea.I'll look at the leave tomorrow to see what breakdown between green leaves and the brown real ripe leaves. Large leaves too.

In retrospect, I should have emptied my back account and bought it all. Not because it is the most fanrastic tea ever, but I have seem vendors sellin it for $89 a toucha.

All 3 have strong foundation. Not really nice to drink now. Too young. Taste nearly the same, with not big difference.

But the best among the 3 is the last pic. 大益金色年华

I took some pictures of my pu, just for you guys and gals to see.

2011 Xiaguan Jin Se Yin Xiang

The tong wrapper was torn during shipment. Boo hoo (sarcasm)
Image
Only one bing wasn't torn.
Image
Also, each wrapper is slightly different - like, it's not printed evenly.

The tea looks fine and smells very good, so into the humid storage cabinet it went. Thanks for reading, homie's.

If they made good puerh with a picture of a llama on it, I would totally get some of that.
