Hello there!

I just received 9 Pu'er samples last week. The 6 sliver bags are this year's loose Sheng from Bing Dao, Bu Lang Shan, Lao Ban Zhang, Lao Man-E, Nan Nuo Shan and Ma Hei Zhai. They were given to me before pressing to cakes. The tuo in the picture is a 05' Ban Zhang. In the clear bags are a 92' Shu and an 88' Sheng.

Happy Sunday!

2011 Xiaguan Jin Se Yin Xiang
They didn't give you the toong box?

This is one of my favorite xiaguan :D 6 Years old material compressed in y2011 that taste like Dayi tea...

I really wish that I had gotten the toong box - though I figured i would get it from YS. I'm not in it for collectibility though, i'm in it for the aging and drinking. :)

This year, Dayi has expanded from the field of precious metal (gold dayi) to the field of precious stone (jade). Probably not far from a diamond dayi

Silver Dayi 2012 is scheduled to be out this year as one of their classic reproduction series. Gold in y2011 was a reproduction too. Jade is new.

Dayi must be following investment trend. Right now few known investment public speakers are recommending people to buy precious material eg gold, silver, platinum, oil, etc.

Probably Dayi will release Oily Dayi soon

YiWu #2 of YiWu tasting month:
YS, LLC, 2002 Yi Wu "Ancient Spirit" Raw Sheng
Unusual in that Scott has this more traditional stored puerh. There were definite signs of higher humidity storage. I would highly recommend a sample for those of you writing asking for an example of moderately aged sheng. This is getting beyond the teenage years. It had a nice tempered camphor aged taste to it. Really surprising considering it only has ten years. Quite a big difference fom Kunming aged teas. Scott states that it has been stored in Jing Hong. A decent buy at $5.50 for a 25 gram sample and $43 per cake.

I enjoyed this tea. The middle heart of the brewing (+-#'s 5-9) brought out some rich mouth coating broth with moderate to little astringency. It was quite easy to brew.

If time allows I will post pics later. The tea is on the darker side due to more humid storage conditions.

Crazy timing, Bio... I just used up the last of my sample of that 2002 YiWu this afternoon! I also bought a cake w/ my last purchase, so I'm already set there... really enjoyed this one along with the 2006 Jin Long. Both really great bargains for their price-to-taste.

Interesting. Please tell us about the 2006 Jin Long YiWu. Scott's description makes it sound like it has seen storage conditions similar to the aforementioned 2002.
There have been a number of bizzarre posts about pu and aging. This is a good way for people to experience it at a relatively low cost.

Today I drank a 2003 CNNP YiWu (#3 of 12) that had totally different characteristics and storage. Will post more on it later.

Indeed, I originally went for the 2006 Jin Long because if I had just looked at the pictures, I would have expected something far older than 2006... and yet the leaves look in great shape. So I was intrigued.

Perhaps surprisingly, I would put the 2006 as a similar level of age (in taste) as the 2002 "Spirit" YiWu -- balance of younger sheng flavors with the aged woody qualities. The two teas are also priced similarly (the 2006 is a 400g cake while the 2002 is 330g, so the cost per gram is pretty close) -- if I recall correctly, I think Scott acquired both around the same time, so that might explain why he priced them similarly.

I recommended the 2006 in tinkjunkie's thread on 'missed' goodies from the 2004-2009 timeframe. I'd lump the 2002 and 2006 we've been talking about in similar categories, and they're both great for the price (in my opinion, of course!).

The last four posts should have gone to the 'pu of the day' thread. My error for not posting there in the first place!

Chip,
Is this something I can help with? Or could you please make the move (?!) Moving threads is most likely out of my plebean possiblities. Thanks.

I thought that the 06 Jin Long had some wetter storage flavors...which I was not crazy about.
