Thanks for the post. I'm new to this forum. Your links help me considerably.
I have about 20 pu'erhs. Just began collecting. I look forward to plumbing the depths of the knowledgeable folks here! I'll pull my own weight. Will post info as I learn.
Great site!

Thank you, shogun89!
I write a wine blog. Did an interview with Andrew Jefford, the brilliant wine critic, a while ago. Mentioned a documentary he did on tea for the BBC. Spent some time talking pu'erh!
There are a lot of similarities between pu'erh and wine, an idea I hope to develop more fully while among you fine folks.
Cheers!

Thanks, Goose!
Just received a big order from Royal Puer a half-hour ago. Couldn't contain my pleasure at holding, 8 weeks later, what I had purchased. Had to find a tea forum! Google brought me here!

Man Lu Da Shan Sheng Bing Cha
Kun Lu Shan Bing Cha
2008 Shou Zang Ji Nian Bing Cha
Bai Ling Zhi Xing Bing Cha
Boyou 7262 Bing Cha
Ge De Bao Hao Sheng Bing Cha
Ge De Bao Hao Shu Bing Cha
Don't really fully grasp what to buy yet. But I bought to what my limited understanding seemed right for a beginner, random teas based largely on note provided by the web site and posted drinker's opinions.
Most pu'erhs will be put away for a while.
How'd I do?

Did not look at all of them but it seems as though you made a nice selection. I hope you enjoy them and be sure to post some reviews in the "Pu of the Day" section.

Though it was quite charming to receive a box of tea directly from China, eight weeks is a long time to wait for delivery. Are there any very reputable retailers in the U.S. folks here might recommend? Are all retailers on puerking's list dependable?
BTW, one of the pu'erhs was a 2008 Olympics commemorative piece. I don't have high hopes for it but felt it would be nice to show friends. Very cool wrapper.

Yes the world has become quite flat. I also get a kick out of the experience of directly ordering a half a world away.
There are several "local" vendors in the states one is Puershop.com, Jim is a member here and his delivery is ridiculously fast.

Puerh Shop is my only source in the US and is where my first pu came from. Highly recommended. Good products, good prices, good service and supper fast shipping. Getting an order from there for Christmas, One of which is the American Hao 0802, should be nice.

Goose, shogun89, thank you for your answers.
I've just loaded puershop.com. I'll take a look.
I'm especially interested in aged pu'erhs or, better, age-able pu'erhs. My son loves them as well. I'm resolved to include them in my will should they require decades of aging and outlast me!

Its defiantly good to plan for the future. I'm still a teen so my theory is buy now, drink when I'm 60.

Ken, Chaikhana Tea Culture right across the street from the Bagelry is a great shop... especially if you like pu erh. I would highly recommend the pu-erh produced - not by a factory - but in small batches where a tea master oversees the entire process.
