Most of the people at Badger and Blade who started the thread no longer post. Went back to coffee?

06 Mengyang Guoyan Youle meets Nannuo -

Dark grain, mushroom and a bit of camphor. Pours a coppery brown with decent body. Pretty good session.

Yunnan Sourcing / Rui Cao Xiang 2009 Wu Liang Lan Xiang ( Wild Arbor ) :- I seem to remember theredbaron mentioning that his cakes of this were ageing nicely , and also fairly quickly , so I decided to prise some off and have a session with some today . I live in the U.k. and theredbaron lives in Thailand , so I wasn't expecting to much ---------------- but I have to say that I was very pleasantly surprised . I last had a session with some of this just over a year ago . It has improved greatly over the last 12 months ! The flavour had a deep , dark , thick muscovado sweetness , a touch of spice , plus some notes of tobacco and wood . The mouth feel was vibrant , thick , smooth and syrupy . The huigan was quite good , and there were some nice cooling sensations in the mouth after the session had finished . The qi was very nice - soothing , focusing and lightly energising . This cost 15 USD back in 2009 . So whilst it isn't the finest cake in the world , I think it represents excellent value for money , for a very enjoyable everyday sheng which seems to be ageing nicely .

80s Loose Leaf from Origin Tea. Really hitting the spot tonight ( moreso than usual.

Celebrating what I believe was a sucessful interview today, and hope in a few days I hear back about a job offer. That will be many happy days and prompt a set up for some tea orders.

Just had 2008 tulin phoenix shu brick. This is one of the interesting shu I had. The blend of nuo xiang + jujube, resulted to somewhat like soya milk flavor.

Cleanse twice, there after the first 2 steeps doesn't have a nice taste, but surprise came at the 3rd steeps. There are a few surprises in the taste, in between sometime the nuo xiang is better, sometime jujube flavor is better, but after drinking it keeps reminding me I'm drinking soya milk :lol:

Well spent 10RMB on this 100g brick :D If only the astringent is lesser then it'll be perfect. :roll:

edit: If anyone in Singapore would like to try this can pm me, I'll send a sample.

Sampling the 2011 YS Yi Wu Purple Tea. It has this medicinal flavor that seems like must be the baseline flavor of young sheng--at least, both of the ither young shengs ive gried have had it--but behind that there's an interesting fruity, floral taste. Maybe a bit of a raisin flavor? I'm on the 4th infusion now and I'm noticing a sweetness that stays on my tongue after I drink, which is very pleasant. Is that what's known as huigan?

Today, I happened to have tasted a sample of a Luoshuidong from Tea Urchin that a friend shared with me. This tea had good aroma and flavor. It was light, sweet, with a discernible honey flavor and lovely floral aroma left in the cup. How it will age, I couldn't comment on that. Maybe some here who have had more experience with tea from this village could comment on older vintages of pure Luoshuidong. This is not a high elevation tea as some of the other Yiwu teas are but is very pure to my taste.

2010 mansai from eot at work today

good stuff good price , tendency to appear to be teetering off around brew 6-8, but shifts over and makes an interesting change into something pleasant and soul like as the tea base presents itself more with the longer brews

would not drink this on empty stomach. This stuff is very strong :mrgreen:

Today's pu would be this dry stored 1980s brick tea. For properly stored aged tea, the tea leaves should be reddish or dark maroon, not black. Attached are 2 photos of the tea. A slow and meditative process and with relax atmosphere to enjoy such tea.

Tonight, the 2010 Wild Tree Pu-erh of Dehong from YS. Again, it has that medicinal note that seems to be common in young shengs, but it's very smooth and mild, not bitter at all. Very sweet, too. I'm interested to see how this develops in subsequent infusions--I'm on the 3rd right now.

Grain, mushroom, some kind of metallic note and a hint of sweetness. Flavor is a bit monolithic...hits you all at once....also some dryness on my tongue. Needs some good storage and about 10 years.

06 menghai 7572 - way better than when I got it - some nice thick sweetness starting to develop. I don't like many shu puers, but this one is getting pretty drinkable. :D
