2003 HK Henry Menghai 7542

Again courtesy of Bev. Here are my quick notes:
Green apple, cinnamon, smooth but a little thin, small amount of sourness, underlying sweetness, oily mouth and throat coating. Loooooooong aftertaste

Finished the last of a gift of a loose mao cha from Vital Tea Leaf--their 'Royal' puerh. The later infusions, plummy and sweet, are quite delightful, and nicer than the initial session, which due to unexpected time pressure at work, was a dump-tea-into-thermos-add-hot-water session. Now it's more 'grandpa style' with a little hot water and more deliberate brewing, and rewarding the extra care with extra nice tea. .

Finished off the very last of my 2002 HLH Mengku wild arbor this week. Just as well its out of stock everywhere, as I would not buy it again.
Drinkable, but essentially tuition tea.

Some 2006 V93 sheng this week, which may be of the green/oolong tea genre that has been of recent discussion here.

Origin tea has some loose puerh that I've ordered.
Only dipped into the 99 Yiwu so far, but it is an excellent value traditionally-stored maocha. Cellar tea...YUM!

We really do need to get Tony on the official TeaVendor lists for oolong and puerh.

Some good ol' ODB (Baoyan Jincha) in the gaiwan for this groovy-beauty Friday.

The more I drink bad tea, the more I appreciate Xiaguan. That nasty ole '03 Jincha is so much more pleasant than many bad teas with big names. '07 Xiaguan tuocha originally from Bana Tea Company is providing a very pleasant cheap tea experience today.

2012 San He Zhai from YS -

Field of flowers, grain and a touch of sugar cane. Chaqi is decent. Has that barnyard like aroma that lingers in the cup.

Wow. Seriously Formula...serious stuff!
Do you have a cake or sample? This one may age to be quite 'serious'.

I would suggest the Yunnan Sourcing 2009 "Yi Wu Da Qiu Feng". It is an excellent tea that I bought recently. It has very little bitterness, just a touch of sweetness, and a nice aftertaste. The website says it has a nearly chocolate aftertaste, which is one of the reasons I bought it. I have not found that to be literally true but it is really good and I am thinking of buying a tong for further aging.

I just sampled this yesterday. I really liked it but I thought it had too much astringency, which was a bit off-putting. That kind of rough astringency. Otherwise it was a nice tea.

Sadly, I only had a sample.

00 7542 from farwenwapuer.Wordpress.com. For the price it is a very decent semi-aged tea. It had some traditional storage a while ago, but has had plenty of time to revive. I would grab a cake of this if it was available.

Yes I agree...that is a good one.

2006 Haiwan Pasha certified organic

Not very active and doesn't have qi. Deep tobacco flavor with slight bitterness and long aftertaste. If this tea was $25 I would buy 4 or 5 but it isn't worth more than a cake at it's current price

That tea sells for how much acceptable tea costs, more or less. Remember, we live in the days where a brand new 7542 is $30. Particularly if it's made from Banna leaves. I'd say it's actually a nice buy at it's current price if you like the taste.
