90's xiaguan traditional character 8653 genereation tea.The storage on this tea was absolutely horrible. May be even a sprayed tea as thewhite mold permeated the tea. It is most likely not even genuine. This tea leaves me feeling nauseous :| . Now I need to find something to wash this taste out of my mouth. A cake of this can be yours for the low price of 900 dollars on ebay.

2000 Kunming Tai lan yin is doing a fairly good job of getting rid of the residual nastiness

I went with nice, safe, An Xiang shu. A good session so far. The last bit in the middle of the cake had been providing bad sessions, but this one is good.

just for the new year, decided to pop one of the cakes that i had been keeping for the past 10 years.

6ftm company, they started making and selling teas in around 02 probably, and 03 was the first major launch of their different mountain series, including some limited edition special cakes etc. i kept quite a number of these cakes in 03, some of them are crap, some are ok and interesting. from 04-05 onwards 6ftm teas became crappier and crappier so i ceased collecting altogether.

it appears that the company lacked some proper equipment in 03, many of the cakes were not evenly pressed, i.e. hard and over compressed in the centre, soft and loose around the edges, and often lop sided! i can imagine someone attempting to balance on the rock pressing the cake, and when doing it fast.. its really slip shod. nevertheless it may eventually bring about different tastes within a cake! the more compressed parts aging slower than the looser edges. not too sure if that would be good or bad.

Pang Xie Jiao 2003' 6ftm. as usual, my typical pedantic matching of teawares to the era of the tea.

probably 1% pangxiejiao or less amongst the tea leaves, but it seems to have imparted an interesting characteristic to the tea cake. instead of mellowing significantly after 10 years like the other 6ftm JW cake that i have, the JW-PXJ tea cake was still quite energetic. in the brew the bitter edge of the PXJ could be tasted.. a little medicinal, but on the overall, good fragrance and energy. let see how it will taste in another 10 years time.

2004 Youle. I am a big fan of new Youle due to its high aroma when young. At 10 years, most Sheng will change drastically, which made me incredibly excited. This one has shed its aroma and mellowing down to age, but still there a slight hint of youthfulness. I will follow this tea every few weeks as the change after 10 years can be within weeks or even days. Keeping the fingers cross with great anticipation. Hmmmm....

Yesterday I tried 2 2001 simplified yun cakes the 7542 and the 7572. They had booth been stored poorly in both cases almost ruining the tea. The 7542 was stored in desert like conditions leaving a very harsh and astringent tea that has not aged bit. The 7572 was wet stored in HK but overly done. This left this tea tasting like a cheap liu bao.

This morning I am brewing EOTs 2011 Mannuo. This tea has lost allot of whatever .Ade it special when young. I have to think that if Nada had processed this cake in the style of his 2012 cakes ( shade drying) it would be a better tea right now. But it might not have been as immediately apealling. This session shows the teas bulang origin more than it has in the past. Although the nice effervescent aftertaste and throatiness are will there.

i don't know this tea and i might be wrong but i think it's from northern banna Mannuo and not the one in bulangshan. but it's a bulang village, maybe that's what you wanted to say.

Where did you get the Simplified Yuns? Asking because I don't think there were many that escaped without at least an initial light warehousing, รก la Yuanyexiang thin wrapper or 2003 Bulang Jingpin.

The Mannuo ain't young and fresh anymore. The vivacity of taste was never really going to last. Was still pretty happy with the last performance, in that the qi is still going.

My last tasting of Mannuo was very close to Naka style tastes, and not bulang.

I meant that it tasted more like a bulang shan area tea. But I think you may be right about this not being that mannuo.

Thanks Brandon for sharing. beside the tea, I like those nice tea wares too. Yes yes yes! Aloeswood, my fave too!

Just to share, I had a 1993 brick Sheng (rare piece in 300gms), 1968 sheng CR tea, 2008 Menghai old tree tea. Will feature the 1968 Sheng Fu Chuang CR tea in my blog probably in 2 weeks time (busy now). It is an extremely rare tea full of history. :D

I had an EoT weekend for pu'erh. A 1996 8582 (long gone from the site) and the 2009 Nannuo old plantation. Two ends of the spectrum, vastly different from each other, and both quite enjoyable, particularly on these cold winter days!
