Pu deal (please read)

Hello everyone.

One thing that keeps me and probably some others from ordering puerh from China is the stiff shipping. I have an idea that will help not only me but everyone else in getting some cheaper quality tea. As some of you now when you buy in bulk from china the price drops radically, but most people dont have the money to do this sort of investment. I am considering putting large orders in over a amount of time in order to extend my collection. Up front these orders will cost me hundreds of dollars so when they come in I will sell of a certain amount of the cakes in order to pay for the purchase. So say a cake cost $10 but I can get a tong for $60. I would sell of the cakes for about $15 each so that way I will get some cakes and you will get some cakes for less money. So basically I will bring in alot of cakes and redistribute some to you at a lower price than you would obtain if ordered separately. The teas I am considering are the

If anyone is interested in this please send a PM to me and I will provide you with more specifics.

Thank you for your time.

Well, The first cake has been reviewed on here and seems like a true winner, The mengahi 8582 I have had I loved and the Haiwan seems like a great cake and I have discussed it with Scott.

I can personally vouch for that 2007 yuan nian cake. Its good for drinking right now, but has a tight enough compression and qualities that will likely mellow over time to make it even better. Plus they are quite cheap, especially by the tong.

shipping is shipping. it's universal. if you don't want to order a tea because of some shipping, don't drink tea imo.

Heres the thing. If you bought each of the three cakes at the discounted price plus shipping for the three they would average 13.52 each for the 1000g shipping or if he goes with the 1250g shipping they would be 14.52 each.

I suppose it depends on what kind of profit margin (if any) shogun actually wants to make. puerhking, I think the general idea though is that if he orders a tong of each (or multiple tongs) the price will be quite a lot less than if you were to yourself order a couple cakes. I notice that quite a few items are priced the same as shipping unless you start getting into more expensive cakes so in theory it would be a good idea.

Of course you would have to figure out what kind of weight you can get shipped for $X, factor in the base price of the tea itself, and than work out what it would come out to per cake. Don't forget about the shipping for distribution in the states than too.

I am not ready to get this going yet, I just wanted to put out the idea and see if there was any interest. For now I am am going to order a tong of the #4 and a tuo of that new Menghai stuff that was just added. I plan on keeping this tong for myself but if I like it enough i could see ordering another 1-2 tongs of it and redistributing it here keeping some myself thus not only giving myself a better deal but providing for those that dont want to order from china.

These little guys look good.

They are a great price if they are any good so if I like them I'll get more of those too in the future.

Also,
Poly did you order your tong of the #4 yet?

I see that I did not make my point at all here.....lol. What I meant to say is that it would be cheaper to buy directly from Scott given the discount he gives if you bought 3 or more from him.

Not yet. I actually just spend quite a bit on a new laptop, took advantage of black friday :P

I'm still quite interested in picking up a tong of it though.

I sort of assumed shogun was going to order directly from Scott...

Regardless, you might get better deals if you order $1000 worth of stuff vice $50.
