Re: why is this tea the most talked about tea on here?
My love/taste/experience with pu ehr is similar to the way I met my husband:LaybackPandas wrote: so whats so special about em? i believe 80% of ppls in the west never heard of puerh.
At first I thought, "aaaahhh . . . "
However, the cha Qi is excellent.
Then, I sort of acquired a taste for Pu Ehr and now I drink it every day if I can.
Don't discard it altogether, wait a few weeks and order something else.

No, Pu'er people are saving up sensibly for their old age. The same cakes that they buy 2 tongs of now will cost thousands of dollars by the time they are consumed. The more a pu lover spends, the more they save!teaskeptic wrote:OTOH, I bet pu people are spending more money on tea than any other tea freaks.hop_goblin wrote:Says who!heavydoom wrote:pu is an economical tea.
Kidding I gram for gram it sure is.
Also, many pu lovers will be able to retire from tea shopping an average of ten years before other tea lovers, and spend this well earned retirement improving their teaware.

It depends on you buy. I personally get at most 20 cakes per year, if each cake costs less than $15, then I figure I am getting a darn good deal. Other people pay $40 for a mere 100g. of oolong, if you do this thats fine, but I find it ridiculous when I could get 1,500g. of puerh for the same price. . . .
You can also buy oolong at 4$ per 100gr and puer at 150$ (or more) per cakeshogun89 wrote:It depends on you buy. If you're going for diy aging then it wouldn't seem too expensive, although a bit of a gamble especially if most buying is done in the sub $15 range. The prices for aged sheng seem to have risen a ridiculous amount since I started keeping an eye on them 3 or 4 years ago, I wish I had picked up more aged stuff at the start of my pu'erh foray.

This is true. It just seems to me that most new harvests oolong seems to be drastically more expensive than puerh.olivierco wrote:You can also buy oolong at 4$ per 100gr and puer at 150$ (or more) per cakeshogun89 wrote:It depends on you buy. Heavydoom, I would be devastated if I ever had to say that, you should at least get one new cake every year. I intend to get about 10 cakes per year for the rest of my life. Since I am 17 now and assuming a full life I should have quite a collection on hand. Haha, this will be interesting finding a wife, hehe.

You are not going broke! You are investing in your future. Breathe in... breath out.... You are not going broke! You are investing in your future. Repeat this mantra for 15 minutes a day.tony shlongini wrote:If pu'er is so economical, why am I going broke?
And besides, resistance is futile.
