Hi,

I'm a tea drinker from the UK. Have been drinking (proper) tea for about 5 years. Been drinking rubbish teabags for a lot longer.

My favourite teas are:
Japanese green - been getting into this a lot more recently
Darjeelings
Roasted Oolong teas

My next purchase... I think it will have to be some Matcha too! Along with a whisk and bowl.

Looking forward to joining in with the community.

Pete.

Hello all, just joined today.

How long have you been drinking tea?

Since I was a child. My mother would always make me very sweet tea - Tetley with cream and honey was the norm. I also drank tea when sick - Tetley with lemon and honey. Sometime before I was 10 years old I was brought to McNulty's on Bleeker St in NYC by my uncle and ever since I have been fascinated by loose tea.

What was your first Tea?

The first loose tea I can remember is the Strawberry-Kiwi tisane from McNulty's. I had it sometime before age 10 and I still drink it to this day 25 years later.

What is your favorite Tea currently?

Golden Gunpowder from McNulty's and a Keemun from a store in Geneva that a friend sent to me.

What is your next purchase?

One of the Master Sampler Sets from Adagio.

Where is your favorite spot to brew up?

I drink 3-4 cups a day at work. My coworkers always ask me questions because in general they only know teabags. I indulge them with fancy tea-speak, they get a kick out of it. I drink quite a bit while in my studio as well (I am a painter). When I get a chance I try to share tea with friends and family, but in general they don't really get it.

Anyway, happy to have found this place and will be posting now and again.

Joseph

Unsure of this, yet.

Well, since I've been lurking here for months now, I guess I may as well try to introduce myself.

How long have you been drinking tea?
I got interested in drinking "real" tea about 10 years ago. As a child, I drank 'tilk' which was pretty much milk with a tiny bit of tea in it. This was mostly an excuse to get to see my mother and grandmother's fancy tea ware. Yes, teaware acquisition disorder is genetic.

What was your first Tea?
I remember being really, really into jasmine tea when I was younger, so probably that.

What is your favorite Tea currently?
Right now, probably some delicious Wuyi 'Little Foot' from the Tea Gallery.

What is your next purchase?
I don't have much experience with Japanese greens, and I'd like to broaden my horizons there. I have some sencha on the way, but I'd like to try some gyokuros as well.

Where is your favorite spot to brew up?
In my kitchen in the mornings. The light is great!

Moderator Edit: So, you don't want to create your own topic for whatever reason? Or you have been a member for a while and never really introduced yourself? Well, here is an opportunity to answer a few questions and introduce yourself a bit more discretely!

Thanks for the topic TIM!

Greetings to all. I'm a complete noob here, this is my first post. Love the topic... gives me a place to start! My name is Shel, I'm a native Texan but I now reside in Illinois, and I'm not only new to this board, I'm pretty new to tea (or hot tea, anyway, Texans drink gallons of iced tea), in general. Y'all bear with me, please if I make a few noob mistakes, okay?

How long have you been drinking tea?
Not long at all! I tried hot tea (regular Lipton from a teabag) years ago, and didn't like it, so assumed I didn't like hot tea at all. Recently though, there's been a thread started on my regular forum hangout (Mobile Read), and there's a bunch of teahounds there. They all sounded so happy about their favorite teas that I ventured another try...

What was your first Tea?

This time, I tried Pomegranate-Cranberry green tea. Still Lipton, still in a bag, but MUCH better.

What is your favorite Tea currently?

Right this second, it's Mandarin Orange green tea in pyramid bags (and STILL Lipton), but I expect that to change along about Tuesday, when my first shipment from Adagio reaches me!

What is your next purchase?

I don't know yet, LOL. I'll have a better idea after I sample what I've ordered this time. I'm venturing a guess it'll be a white tea sampler, though, since I didn't get one this time.

Where is your favorite spot to brew up?

My kitchen. I've set up the top of my pantry cabinet as my tea station.

Welcome teashel. I discovered the magic of tea through an eReader board as well! I just wish I had found this board a few months sooner :). Lots of very helpful people here.

Greetings everyone, I'm Alen and I live in Bosnia, I'm 23. So let me introduce myself:

How long have you been drinking tea?

If herbal tea counts, I started drinking tea as a toddler. I was born with sensitive lungs, and teas (elder tree tea mostly) helped pretty much to soothe my troubles.

What was your first Tea?

Herbal: Elder tree

C. Sinensis: Green gunpowder tea, 2-3 years ago. (I've been drinking green tea in teabags even before that, but they weren't much pleasant until I tried gunpowder)

What is your favorite Tea currently?

I really can't decide, I'm indecisive by nature. I haven't tried many teas, but I really like Bi Lou Chun, Dian Hong, and ripe Pu erh with jasmine.

What is your next purchase?

Again, can't decide... I might try with some raw Pu erh brick, or different Oolong types, or something like that.

Where is your favorite spot to brew up?

My work desk, the very place I'm typing from right now. :D

I have the latest generation 6" Kindle. I have had one since the 2nd came out. I keep getting new ones - gives me a good reason to pass them to family members. We have 4 on our account now so we can share books. How about you?

My favorite pastime is reading my Kindle while sipping tea :)

How long have you been drinking tea?
About two years, adagio got me into drinking loose leaf, and I've been trying to expand from there

What was your first Tea?
No idea, lipton?

What is your favorite Tea currently?
Genmaicha

What is your next purchase?
Looking to try some good senchas

Where is your favorite spot to brew up?
No where in particular, tea anywhere is good :)
