You know what kind of weird looks you get when you say that? I tell people that they haven't had green tea until they brew it from leaves and they all look at me like I am crazy.

There are some that just arrived that I have not tried yet. The one that I brew the most is some green tea that I brought back from Taiwan in March that was grown on Alishan. Unfortunately, I can't tell what it is specifically as I don't read Mandarin! We tried several at this little tea stand and this is the one we liked the best. A bit of a sweet taste and is one of the ones rolled into balls. We tried one that was a bit on the bitter side and none of us liked it.
Oh my!!! Sounds like you have an Ali Shan green oolong on your hands there missy!! <faints>

That is almost definitely a "green" oolong.

Heh, I just got my hands on some too. Probably about half a pound. My BFF went to Taiwan with her boyfriend a while ago and she brought back a bunch of tea. She didn't know what it was and she said she would give me a bag. So I opened it up and checked it out. She found out later (from sites written in only Chinese) that it was from Ali Shan. I brewed some up yesterday and today and it is wonderful. She was saying she had it a few times in Taiwan and loved it the first time but they couldn't get the same buttery taste at other places. I told her about changing the brewing parameters and to see what makes it better. I have a ton of this stuff now and I am exited about it, even though we don't know *exactly* what it is (they didn't know the questions to ask).
