Re: Official what Oolong are You Drinking Right Now?
Big White (大白葉) 2014 from TeaHong. Most intense peach aroma and flavor I've ever come across. Almost made me double-check their website to make sure it wasn't a "flavored" tea.

It comes across as a really lame, weak, generic mi lan xiang.kyarazen wrote:did it come across as duck poopoo scent?bonescwa wrote:Duck shit aroma dancong from YS. it's terrible.![]()

Just sampled all the new 2015 YanCha offerings (except Shui Jin Gui) from Yunnan Sourcing.
My favorite was the 5 year old Da Hong Pao.
http://yunnansourcing.com/en/wuyimounta ... ntain.html
This is a nice, crushable, YanCha.
After brewing it twice, once in a 100 ml gaiwan and the second in a small (70ml) yixing, it seemed this tea could withstand hard brewing parameters. Sure enough, stuffing the pot and going for long hard steeps resulted is a wonderful concentrated (espresso) liquor that was not bitter. Enough time has passed that the roast has incorporated. It has dark cocoa/carob taste that lingers on the palate and coats the mouth. It tasted like some aged Rou Gui I have had in the past.
It has seen nice clean storage. I gave it four stars, but for the price, it is worth five stars. Buy it up before it vanishes. If you are in the market for ready to drink YanCha, you will not regret it.

Enjoying a nameless Taiwan tea given by a friend. It is good enough because it is free.

Re: Official what Oolong are You Drinking Right Now?
Drinking gaoshan I bought at a place in Maokong (just outside Taipei) where you can hang out and brew your own tea. This stuff is way too astringent. I thought I'd brewed it badly, but it's just not very good tea! Fortunately I didn't buy too much of it (just the amount required to be able to sit and drink at the restaurant)!

Savoring right now some Dong Ding Qing Xian .. despite the low price, it is a really really good tea!

Mostly enjoying a sample of a Jun Chiyabari tea, coded HT. I don't remember the codes & wrote to get them, but it seems an oolong--not giving its best cup w/ boiling water or w/ very low temperature. Flavor & aroma is excellent at 90 - 92 C; but, an aftertaste is somewhat bitter & also very good. I have an ambivalent, complex experience here.
As I seem to be concentrating on organic tea from Nepal, I have not simplified my tea life as much as I expected to.

Still warm enough, even late into the evening, to make hot-started/cool-brewed Zhangshu Lake oolong from WFH irresistible. Drinking little else at present.

DYL. Asked the guy at reception for a recommendation for a tea store. Went in my room, came out and he gave me a 100g pouch of Dayuling! I was very surprised. Really nice tea.
