I struggled with the focus on Supermacro setting so ended up with a lot of photos trying to show firrerent aspects of the leaf.

Is there a way to have photos of the 2 other chao zhou pots ? I think I am going to place an order soon... Nothing urgent though...

I was frisky when I got home so could not wait until Tuesday

I started prepping the new pots and rinsed the 'Fang Gu' out at the same time.

I went lighter on the leaf tonight
5 gm in a 100ml cz

But after
shaking and tapping
and more
shaking and tapping

and a little bit more shaking and tapping

I did not have to break even 1 leaf, though I did pull one out and reinsert it.





I believe the names of pot shapes Water ladle is called Shi Pao

does anyone know what Stone Ladle is called ?
or another name for Bell?

Tonight's tea, the brewing

The tea was ready

and so was the water
5 second wash
and 10 second 1st Infusion

Using less leaf than last time still nowhere near the rim

Brew a bit light

Pleasant drink, nice fragrance but not Orange Blossom





I will give the 2nd Infusion a bit longer



15 seconds and near boiling water

more colour, more body and a definite whiff of a citrusy fragrance.

a little bit more open, but not filling the pot



I have had this tea before, but think I enjoyed it more then
3rd infusion 20 seconds with almost still boiling water

well the pot did not crack, but the tea very similar to infusion 2



was called away, on return I gave 4th infusion boiling water and 30 seconds - at last a slight tingle on the tongue, but generally not as 'wow' as when I tried the same tea 18 months ago.

I have heard from Imen that a brand new DC is likely not at it's best, and 12 months should see it at it's peak She also sells aged DCs that are supposed to be good
I think this one was better (assuming it is the same one I bought 2 years ago) after 6 months than it is after 28 months.

But I will reserve judgement until after I have upped the leaf, I think it needed another 2 gm in this pot to get the best out of it.

Wow, many thanks for these pictures HB ! Those pots are really gorgeous. It will be a great help for me to choose one from Imen's selection.

Thanks also for the details. I was wondering whether 10cl was going to be too small for the leaves or not, but it seems to work all right.

I was thinking about taking the "aged tea" sample pack along with a Wu teapot. I have been trying aged dan cong from another source lately, and I think they benefit more from a teapot than a gaïwan, in a more "obvious" way than a fresh DC (but I am quite new with these teas.)

I saw that your location is UK. Tim from Postcardteas is preparing for a show at the end of november with Chao Zhou teapots involved, by Zhang family. I had the chance to see spoilers and I think it is going to be great. Unfortunately, I won't be able to attend, but If you are in the neighbourhood...

David, I won't be able to make it to any Postcard Tea shows, I save all my travels for visiting malaysia and s.e. asia, or entertaining my malaysian friends round europe when they visit.
