Apart a sample of Aged Tie Guan Yin from Jing Tea I never tried any other TGY until two weeks ago when I received 100g of Nonpareil Tie Guan Yin from Dragon Tea House. I fell in love with it right after the first sip, I fooled around changing the brewing parameters and always was satisfied with the results. I decided to deepen my adventure with the TGY and placed several orders from different vendors.
I ordered small quantities of Shen Yun Tie Guan Yin and Jade Tie Guan Yin from TeaSpring , a bag of Long Juan TGY from Jing Tea and yesterday I ordered some Jiu Jiu Jiu Guan Yin from Wan Ling.

I received the Long Juan from JTS and started to brew according the same parameters I brew the Nonpareil from DTH: 6-7g (just to cover the bottom of a 120ml Gaiwan)~ 5 seconds flash rinse and then 30 seconds in 96C water for the first infusion. I was surprised: it was the first time I was disappointed by a tea from JTS. I found it lacking in taste and quite boring. Using different brewing parameters did not help. I thought that maybe something was wrong with my sense of taste so I immediately brew some DTH's Nonpareil Tie Guan Yin and loved it.

According the praises the Long Juan receives on this board and others I have no doubt that it is a quality TGY, so maybe I do something wrong and I am missing something. Maybe the Long Juan is a more subtle tea and it will take some time until my inexperienced palate discovers and appreciates its delicacy ? Or it is a high quality tea but not the right one for me and that's OK.

Before posting this message this morning, I brew an other cup and felt the same. Any tip or brewing recommendation for the Long Juan ?

I also tried lots of TGY, the last two years I ordered a lot of it and if I recall it right, Nonprail TGY from Dragon Teahouse was the best of them all, I also tried Wanlings top offerings, Shen Yun TGY, Jing teashops TGY, and rich barbarian, Funalliance, and I had taiwanese TGY`s, and I can barely recall how many I ordered out of curiosity for this type of tea, and Dragon Teahouse offered the best, so I think the problem is that you actually tried one of the best examples of this oolong.
P.S. You used the exact same amount and brewing time as I did, I also use 6 - 7 grams and 30 seconds first infusion, after that the time is 20 s, 40 s, 1 min, 1.20 - 1,30, 1.45, 2 min +.

I think I even took some pictures of it, I liked it so much.
