Of course they discontinued the tea I like. I'm snapping some up before it disappears.
Does anyone have a relatively inexpensive (I'm a grad student!) oolong with similar flavors that they like?

You might try Floating Leaves Oriental Beauty. or oriental Beauty from anywhere else really and see how they match up

Also, I would avoid Floating Leaves OB, probably one of the worst I have had in the price range.

Probably still a step up from the 'vana though.

I really liked the floating leaves OB from 2008.

iirc from chat the one you had was from 2009...which was unusually roasted and recommended by the vendor mainly for iced tea.

neither of which is still available
the 2010 Oriential Beauty she´s selling now is described has having a much clearer honey note than the past years.

I think it´s worth trying.

Yeah, that was the 2009 one, but from my experience with that tea and my experiences with FLT in general, I infer that I would not like the 2010. Also, I believe that I did have the 2008 at some point and did not think it was too great. It wasn't bad, but not worth the price. It was certainly not as good a Hou De's 2008 –the first Bai Hao I really liked.

+1

I'm still enjoying this tea (I paid $3.50 per oz) & look forward to trying their 2010 OB.
