Yancha compared to Yeshengcha (Taiwan)

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone had compared Yancha to Yeshengcha (野生茶) from Taiwan?

Yesheng, for those who haven’t heard of it, is Tea from wild, old tea trees in Taiwan. I have not yet had Yancha, but I imagine the teas could be comparable… ?

A friend had given me one pack of Yesheng and it was pretty nice.
This kind of tea is (as any wild tea) rare and therefore on the expensive end.
For info this particular one was 3000 NTD for one jing. Which in Taiwan is upper middle price range I would say (not counting the absurdely expensive aged teas and Puerh).

This particular seller, pays some of the Taiwanese aborigines, who are excellent mountain climbers, to pick the leaves, as the trees are apparently in difficult mountain terrain. Well, so the story goes, I have no confirmation if it is true… but the tea was pretty nice!

Interesting. Is it charcoal roasted?

Not enough of an expert to say if so or not…
Should have remembered to take a picture – but I think probably not.

The leaves had a mix of colours from dark brown, blackish, over to lighter browns and some green as well.
