Pinewood roasted oolongs, thanks but no thanks
I would really like vendors to state this in the description.
Anyone else who feel the same?
Re: Y u like pinewood roast?!
Hmm I've never seen that claim before, at least with any of the vendors that I frequent.
Re: Y u like pinewood roast?!
hej~~
i'm ok with pine wood roast actually.. there was a period of time i had a strong pine roast lapsang for breakfast daily.. i have a friend in linkoping whom does the same too...
but it is a hit or a miss thing.. not everyone is ok with this level or type of smoke
and yes, vendors should state the type of roast than for the consumer to be shocked upon opening the package

Re: Y u like pinewood roast?!
Any roast is an acquired taste. I would think pine roasting would be even more of an acquired taste since there is a particularly strong odor and taste to the resin. I remember the first time I tasted Retsina wine in Greece, it was a bit of a shock to taste the pine resin mixed with the wine. It takes time to get used to it. But, yancha roasting with pine would not be a choice for me. And, god forbid puerh with pine smokiness. It's bad enough if there is any smoke in puerhs.

Agreed about puerh! I've never tried a pinewood roasted oolong, but I'm curious. I can imagine it being alright or pretty terrible.Tead Off wrote:And, god forbid puerh with pine smokiness. It's bad enough if there is any smoke in puerhs.

I bought 100 grams of an aged da hong pao and realized it was reroasted with pinewood charcoal. Although the tea has good qi I am not fond of the taste at all. The taste of pinewood smoke really covers evry other quality in the tea.
