First order with Tea Habitat

by Herb_Master » Jan 13th, '09, 13:56

I have always shied away from Tea Habitat, because of the lack of an on-line ordering facility, and no details of shipping costs etc.

The pressure on me from fellow forum members to forego the pain and order was finally too much last friday when I saw that Imen had some new stocks just in.

I ordered some without waiting for Imen to even get some tasting notes up on Tea Obsession.

What pain? A couple of rapid response emails back and forth and my order is on the way!

What shipping costs? On an order of $370 for tea, $17 for shipping seems nothing!

Yes I shall certainly be saving it until near the end when I have practiced all my skills  3

And at least until after Imen has given it a review and tasting notes!

It was one that I enquired about a few weeks back and she must have rememered because commented accordingly when she accepted my order!

Thanks for the info, a sparkling makeover, still a few teething troubles I suspect, should be even better as time goes by!

On your Meet Up, or as you are fairly local on any occasion, have you any views on the Green Canisters. No price showing at the moment or details. Are they double lidded? It would be kind of cute to store Imen's tea in Imen's canisters.

they have a song zhong #4 at $63 per oz. Not sure I will reach that level of the tea game.

A perk of the expensive tea is that a canister comes with it. You should be getting some of the green ones free. Maybe that is a different one.

Does Teahabitat sell extraordinary tea? Better than most shops? Because the prices are very high, but does the quality match the price? If they truly sell unique, very high quality original tea, that is better than the stuff you find at teaspring or dragon teahouse, I would pay the price just to experience great chinese tea.

I don't know about her other teas, but she has certainly been paraded across the Forum by a dozen members as the absolute Queen of DanCong.

The first 2 that I have tried, leave me willing to believe that they are right.

She certainly seems to be extremely knowledgeable about her DCs and how to brew them, any questions that you leave on her blog are answered very quickly, including brewing advice on how to get the best of the fragrance or maximise taste and texture.

My one pique at the moment is that she tends to get limited stocks of these prized teas - so comparing them with TeaChat friends can be a problem if she sells out quickly. The 2 that I would be prepared to review are no longer available.

The recent Californian TeaChat meet up spent plenty of time in her shop - I hope they will all give you their opinions on her DCs and other teas in her range
