Saturday TeaDay 1/02/10 IMPROMPTU NEW YEAR CONTEST?

by Chip » Jan 2nd, '10, 01:47

Greetings to day two of the new year, new decade. Come and celebrate by sharing what is in your cup throughout the day.

Yesterday we discussed the best of December! You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.

Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. Impromptu Contest to celebrate the new year and decade! The "Post of the Day" across the entire forum wins a prize. I will be reading all the posts as I do anyway, no preconceived criteria will be used, and I will declare the winner on Sunday's TeaDay.

What should the prize be ... wow, talk about impromptu!!! I will also pick the prize from the TeaDay responses to this question and will offer some suggestions in the poll?

So, have fun with this one ... but the prize will be real.

I am looking forward to a great TeaDay with everyone. Bottoms up.

Adagio $5 Gift Certificate seems fine to me. Anything more and this might turn into a creative writing class.

Having a cup of warm cider right now, pretending it's tea. Not working so well.

Good luck everyone!

It was a dark and stormy night; the rain fell in torrents, except at occasional intervals, when it was checked by a violent gust of wind which swept up the streets, rattling along the housetops, and fiercely agitating the scanty flame of the lamps that struggled against the darkness, and I put the kettle on, waiting for the telltale sign, the whistle, to ready the cup and saucer for my morning cuppa, an aged pu'erh, which, having traveled halfway across the world from the misty mountain in china where the ancient tea tree, gnarled and bent, produced the leaves so long ago plucked and stored, through perilous journeys on the south china sea, to me, to my table, to the pot, to the cup, to my mouth, to taste, this day.

I said $25 only because all the money I can get towards my tea budget is gladly welcomed. I have checked so far what I have spent here in the past 5 years and I could buy myself a pretty alright used car. Needless to say $25 would go a long way. Good Luck to all! :D

Other.

Ilya comes to your house dressed like a tea leaf, sings "I'm a Little Tea Pot", and makes you a cup of tea.

This is nice idea. I'm not sure what I could say to win but I really love tea and I am a poor college student, so an adagio GC would be really awesome so I don't blow my tea budget in the new year. But I'm sure whoever wins will have written something really cool.

Ok, umm ... This morning I had some tea.
Japanese Black from Yuuki-Cha to be exact.

It was a J. Peterman experience, but I'm not telling.

I agree with Victoria--keep it small.

Drinking cider this afternoon as well, but mine's cold. It was snowing earlier, and I'm pretending that winter is already over.

I vote for something small as well. $5 GC seems about right.

Start TD with mid 80s Shu Pu. A friend and his family is in town for a visit. Will share some teas (Shu Pu and Fu Cha) with them.

Yes, please keep it small, like one of those hagi cups.

Well, at least I know this post won't be taking the prize!

Yesterday was a glorious day off. I think I spent all of it playing video games, something which I haven't gotten to do in a long, long time. It was fun, and my eyes got very blurry.

Today has been pretty lazy as well. Hrm, perhaps not the best way to start the new year, but on the other hand, I've been exercising for the last 6 months, so at least I don't have to pretend like I'm going to start a new work-out regime this year. I can't wait to see what the gym is like on Monday.

Right now, I'm testing out a 2003 CNNP sheng, and I'm eyeing a tofu parmigiana recipe for tonight's meal. Is it worth the trip out in this cold to get some mozzarella, or can I just squeak by with colby/jack?? Oh the decisions... OH GLORIOUS DAY! I just checked the fridge and I do indeed have a package of shredded mozzarella. Mmmmmm.

This might just be a spectacular year...

Earlier today I drank a cup of kalahari matcha mint chocolatte tea. I think it should be an adagio $15 gift card. Thank you very much for the contest good luck to everyone.

$5 wouldn't be enough to really purchase anything besides a sample or two, then you'd have to pay shipping on top of that. $25 would be nice, because you could get a couple different 4 oz. teas and still cover shipping.

Fujian Baroque earlier today, and right now I'm enjoying some Ying Ming Yunnan. This name of this one makes me think there should be little psychedelic 70s flower stickers on the package. :D
