Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. Canisters, do you have them, a lot of them, are they specialized, do they follow any theme(s)? And do you use them?

... have a lot of them, they are generally specialized, several themes, and I use them and collect them!

I guess you could say I am fanatical about them ... here are Momiji (Japanese Maple) themed Washi and similar canisters from Japan along with some Momiji teaware ... also from Japan. Momiji is a recurring theme!

And ... Momiji in the foreground of Mt. Fuji in my avie! Why not?

I normally only use the packages that the tea comes in (unless its not resealable). The only container that I'm currently using is a yixing pot which is for storing / aging puerh.

Closest thing I have to a canister is a big glass jar that holds a pound of tea... The rest of my stuff is in Adagio tins and zip-lock foil bags.

I love canisters and do collect them, but I have no room to display them. I do store tea in some. Among my favorites are my Mariage Freres canisters because of their unique shape.

In theory I would love to have such a neat, well-dressed tea cupboard as Chip showed above. Instead, I have a tea chaos, as I've gone more than a little insane with trying a variety of different teas, including a lot of small samples, and when I was first looking, I couldn't find enough inexpensive, airtight, light-tight, compact, stackable tins in handy sizes for everything from loose and light curly green teas, to small samples of dense puerhs. And now, I've decided that the sturdy resealable bags most of my teas came in are not so bad, and squish in tighter than any tins would.

I have a few cannisters...

The stars are two beautiful airtight tins that hold a half kilo of dancong each which I´m using for long term aging.

I also have some old twinnings tins I wash out and store puerh in after I break it up.

Plus a bunch of simple tins from the local tea shop I´ve mostly used to split teas to share with my gf...well a bunch of them are hers now but I have more to give her in the future

And there´s some tins she gave me...one had a limited edition t-shirt in it and the other chocolates but I figure if I wash them out they´ll be fine for storing tea medium term from broken up puerh cakes or whatever

Don't have any yet . I'd really like a few soon, at least for matcha.

I have a whole lot of them. There all black double airtight tins from rishi and so far I have been happy with them. Im not sure I would trust putting fresh greens in them but for black teas they work just fine over a few years.
There not really speciallized or themed unless plain black is a theme

I like to order multiple small quantities like when I buy from teaspring I order 2, 50g orders instead of 1, 100g order of tea so I can keep one fresh while I use the other. This way I just fold up the bag it comes in without needing a tin.

I have many canisters, mostly from Japan: some natsume, chaire and of course regular canisters like this one:

I have a few canisters; I got rid of some right before I found TeaChat! Some I keep because special people gifted them to me; some because they are pretty; some because they are useful and easy to open. I have a large glass apothecary jar I toss odd bags or sachets in; and a small one in which I store my Russian Caravan tea.

I use some; some I just display in my studio.

No tea yet today.

Thanks Dooble, not sure which Kyusu you like ... or I would give you some info on it.

Began the TD with Organic Gamnong from Hankook. SweeTea stopped by for some though I think she misses the Sencha in the morning. Katie and Gandalf stopped by for a visit on another rainy day.

Some rounded Japanese double lidded canisters submitted for your approval ... Matcha canisters are up top (only 4 have matcha in them), but they are excellent for small amounts of tea as they either have double lids or an screw on lid.

I love your setups, I can't wait to have better tea storage one day. Right now my tea is piled in a corner of my bedroom and the tins are under the bed. I just love the look of sakura bark containers.
