Saturday TeaDay 5/1/10 Water your source?

by Chip » May 1st, '10, 01:49

I hope everyone is having a great TeaDay!!!

We are glad you stopped by TeaDay, stay a while, see what other TeaChatters are sipping, share with all of us what is in your cup. Stop by as often as you can and share as many times as you want.

All are welcome to participate in TeaDay!!! So, if you are new to tea or TeaChat, don't let that stop you from sharing with us.

Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic is all about water...the water we use to brew our prescious tea leaves. A while back, Proinsias asked, "I was just curious as to what water most folks use most of the time; tap, filtered tap(what filter), bottled(what kind), bamboo charcoal, reverse osmosis, or some lucky so and so who lives at the base of mountain stream etc...(added own well)"

Have a deep well for the house water but can also scoop some water from a natural spring if I really needed to. No filters or anything on the tap- there's no way it could make it any better than it already is.

This is going to a be a Pu-erh day, methinks...hope everyone has a great weekend!

In Turku the tap water comes from the river, so it has a earthy/moldy taste. That's why I've just recently started to use bottled water. Soon I'm going to start using local spring water.

I use unfiltered tap...I like the taste of my city water...only a couple of minor issues...I get scaling in my kettle (easy to clean with vinegar) and I´m a bit concerned about the fluoridation but I suppose it won´t kill me.

I tried brewing a couple of times with bottled spring water but it came out flat compared to the tap.

In Mexico I used Bonafont bottled water since the tap water has too much chlorine to drink...tea came out a lot better from the Bonafont than from bottled water brands sold in Canada

Actually it was very good....strange thing though even the dry tea smelled different o.o The altitude is so extreme in Mexico City it changes your sense of taste and smell...all the tea and food was delicious there :)

Brita pitcher is my best friend. The tap water here isn't undrinkable, but it's certainly a lot better tasting when filtered.

Unfiltered tap. The quality is OK, it's even pretty soft.

Sencha is the brew of choice this Sat.

We use a Pur filter on our tap water. In the winter and spring, I sometimes use the tap water unfiltered--it tastes good. However, in a dry summer and fall, the city has to use more chlorine and so I always use the filter.

I've been drinking water with fluoride for about 56 of my 70 years and I'm still here, Entrope... :)

Don't know what today will bring TeaWise--I still have a couple of teas to try. First, I'll have to sleep some. It is 8 a.m. here and I haven't been to bed yet!

Colorado well water. Always cold (the pressure tank is in the basement, so it stays cool even when it's pumped into the house), always tasty.

Drinking a bit of sheng puerh this morning. My sencha supply is getting dangerously low, gotta make it stretch out until the shincha starts arriving! The sheng is actually a nice change of pace this morning.

I use a Japanese mineral enhancement system made by Wellness, I have the home jug system, works like a Brita filter - more info on it here...

Unfiltered tap water here. The tap water here's not bad - we have a Brita for cold water, but if I'm going to be heating it, just unfiltered doesn't bother me at all.

Den's Fukamidori this morning, as soon as the water cools a little more. Then off to NC for a wedding! 8 hours of driving ahead of me today, not sure there'll be time for much tea.

Unfortunately we have pretty bad well water. We used to use bottled, but switched to an under the sink reverse osmosis system a few years ago.

Hojicha this morning. Been having some caffeine issues so trying to take it easy today. Sure hope this does not last!

Well since I can only choose one - Tap Filtered.
I use the Adagio GraviTEA and tap water at home.
At work bottled water and bamboo charcoal.
Sometimes other combos. I like to mix it up.

2010 FF Darjeeling Castleton Estate in my cup this morning.

Tap's clean here, but it's very hard, so I use filtered tap for better taste of tea.
