Happy Veteran's Day!
Greetings fellow TeaAfficionados. Please drop in and share what is in your cup throughout the day.
Yesterday, the overwhelming majority of responders indicated that tea was either a passion or a hobby. You can still vote and discuss this topic.
Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. Vegetal, fruity, floral, grassy, smokey, earthy, marine/oceanic, nutty, spicey, peppery, malty ... which of THESE 11 flavor profiles wins the MOST favor with you in an unflavored tea? Rank and please share.
I am certainly looking forward to sharing tea flavors with everyone today on TeaDay, bottoms up!

I checked Nutty.
Next would be Smokey
Fruity
Floral
Malty
In an unflavored Tea.
None of the other flavors usually find favor with me.

Happy Veteran's Day!
Floral tops my list. Floral with a cinnamon note is the ultimate.

Thanks, Victoria, for the Veteran's Day post. My DH, both sons, and both daughters-in-law are Air Force veterans. I've thanked them already this morning.
Re: Thursday TeaDay 11/11/10 11 Flavor Showdown?
I picked fruity, but Vitoria made me rethink that.
Malty in a darker tea.
And isn't sweet a flavor? Where's sweet?

I also did not mention bitter. I wanted everyone to think beyond the basic taste bud tastes. Plus I could not mention them all due to poll restrictions.Chip wrote:Which of THESE 11 flavor profiles
Therefore, I ask for everyone to choose from the list provided. You will also note I did not have "Other" as well for this reason.
So, best choice for you from the list provided.
And as artmom did, rank the list according to your preferences.

Thanks Peacock!Peacock wrote:Marine/Oceanic (never tried... would it taste like fish?)
Marine can be different things, I envision essence of the ocean in a good way, not fishy. Maybe like nori ... maybe the smell of a tropical sea breeze ...
But I have heard peeps describe a tea as fishy ... but not what you "want" in a marine taste.
Re: Thursday TeaDay 11/11/10 11 Flavor Showdown?
I chose smokey since i have been on a bit of a pu kick lately. I also like a slight fruity/floral in oolongs, but dont care for overwhelmingly floral teas. earth and malty would robably also mak the list with vegetal and marine at the very bottom.
TGY#4 this morning, kind of floral, but not too much.

today's poll: I have no idea
Some yuuki cha matcha this morning, then this afternoon and possbily this evening. Must have found its way to the back of the cupboard coming on 9 months ago, thanks to the yuuki cha containers it still tastes quite good.

Lovely shot Proinsias!
Hmm, this is a tough question for me, especially as I look for different flavors in different teas. I love grassy in japanese green teas, malty in hongcha, floral in a light TGY, and earthy in an aged sheng. However, if any of these flavors got mixed up I might not be too happy.
EoT's 90s Da Ye Loose Shengpu today, very earthy!

Re: Thursday TeaDay 11/11/10 11 Flavor Showdown?
I'm always looking for something sweet in my tea, whether floral sweet, grassy sweet, earthy sweet, spicy sweet, or fruity sweet.
But as might be obvious from my varied tea-day picks, I don't have a single favorite tea flavor. I like to have a variety of teas available so that if I am in the mood for earthy, I can have that, or if I need floral, that's there, and sometimes I just need complexly spicy to give some energy to the day.
So....my list is different. These are the things I crave in teas, but not all in the same tea, in alphabetical order, not by preference:
Earthy Floral Fruity Smoky Spicy Sweet
These are things I enjoy in my teas, but aren't generally going to 'make or break' a tea preference for me:
Grassy Nutty Peppery Vegetal
And these are things that do not attract me to a tea, although they're not always negatives:
Marine/Oceanic Nutty
Enjoying sweet, floral, spicy Da Yu Shan oolong from Wing Hop Fung today.

I really appreciate fruity notes in tea and I tend to look for them.
Also while it´s not on the list the buttery notes in many Japanese green teas I really enjoy too.

I'm really into flavored tea so in unflavored I would look for:
Floral
Fruity
Spicey
Peppery
Nutty
The following I haven't had alot of experience with yet.
Grassy
Smokey
Earthy
Malty
Vegetal
Marine/Oceanic
Grassy - really haven't grasped a likeness for this
I'm drinking a tea called Winter Dream...a black tea...figured it would be a nice xmas tasting tea (from the smell). It actually reminds me of Adagio's Sweet Potato Pie! LOL
