Greetings TeaFriends. Please come in and share what is in your cup throughout the day.
Yesterday, "Nutty" was the winner in favorite flavor component to tea. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.
Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic was inspired by several discussions on the forum. "If you had the most incredible tea ever, but you didn't have the proper pot to make it in, would you make it anyway?" Please share what to do in this situation and has your answer possibly changed over time.
I am looking forward to another TeaDay with everyone. Bottoms up.

Re: Friday TeaDay 11/12/10 Right pot for the job?
Almost certainly, unless the RIGHT pot was already on it's way.
If there were repeat opportunities to get obtain the tea, my itchy fingers would not be able to stay away from the tea
Even if no more could be obtained, my fingers would be itchin'
A close enough pot perhaps, but there is always the Gaiwan

Depends. If I had the best tea ever but only had an infusion ball then no way would I waste the tea with that. If I had a gaiwan that was the wrong size then for sure I would be making tea. If possible I would wait a little bit until I could find a proper pot. If it were a reasonable amount of time to get it.
Lets just hope this situation never happens
DHP in my cup this morning.

If it is the best tea ever, a gaiwan shall suffice.

A s long as there are at least two possible vessels--one for steeping, one for drinking, and something that can be used to help keep the leaves out of the ones for drinking, a strainer, spoon, a plate that could be used as a gaiwan-like lid, and something to heat the water, I'd consider that sufficient for a first go with any tea, as long as I had enough to try again with a proper pot later.
Today, starting with Sayamakaori sencha from Yuuki-cha.

I would go for it!
Had some SLT of unremembered type this morning. Getting ready to brew up some TeaSource Peppermint Twist - so soothing to the sore throat!
Happy Friday, Everyone!

Yip
First delivery from Postcard Teas arrived this morning, less than 24hrs after ordering. Looking forward to trying the long jing as I think it may be first chance to drink the real deal long jing.
Amber Nannou oolong to start, nothing to get excited about but it was by far the cheapest of the bunch.

I would have no patience....but I would try to get the proper pot before I finish it(:

OOPS!
Forgot to answer the poll question.
Well, Chip would take care of this detail, so I would have no worries. I am sure he would be resilient enough to brew in whatever pot was available ... that is if he would want to ... perhaps he will tell us he would not brew without the proper brewing vessel.

Proper equipment is preferred, but not a necessity!
Re: Friday TeaDay 11/12/10 Right pot for the job?
If the tea is very good, I don't need anything more than a simple gaiwan/houhin (or a little porcelain teapot) to brew it. Even glass brewing would be OK for some teas.
The only exception would be matcha which I would not brew without a chasen.
Ippoen gyokuro this evening.
