Sometimes if i'm using a type of tea (almost always black) that I am just drinking for the heck of it. Not actually for the subtle nuances of my usual tea, sure I will add a little sugar.

I play a lot with tea additives actually-- mostly I like to make my own chais, so I play around a lot with black tea and spices and sometimes things like orange peel, cocoa, etc.
And even though I enjoy most of my teas additive-free and brewed in a gaiwan these days, western-brewed black tea with milk and sugar is a morning ritual I've never really been able to break away from. I think it's more psychological than anything, but I can't start my day without it!

Last time I added something to tea was yesterday, mainly because I was travelling for twelve hours today and didn't get to have any tea until dinner... But I usually add a little bit of stevia to my tea, I have something of a sweet tooth.
Last time I added anything to iced tea was this past summer, when I made sweet tea.
Genmaicha with dinner tonight; currently waiting on water for a hibiscus tisane.

Ooops, I did it again, should have set the poll for 2 votes ... which I finally did a little while ago.
If you only voted once, you can cast another vote.
Let's see, I likely added some flavors to tea around 12 years ago as a newbie. Then maybe 18 months ago to iced tea, a little honey to iced sencha.
Great TD ... beginning with sencha with the Mrs, followed by more sencha, and then more sencha ... yeah, great TD.

Here is a question would Genmaicha count as Adding toasted grains of rice to your tea?

Wow, forgot about that ... OK, less than a year for hot tea.

not counting them the last time would be I added kiwifruit, vanilla ricemilk and raw cane sugar to my matcha in the blender...that was near the beginning of December...or the week before Christmas I made matcha sugar cookies
I've made matcha sugar cookies, too, and they're awesome. This past Halloween, I made a batch with a Frankenstein-shaped cookie cutter. No food dye required.

I like that one! Best of the FT stuff, IMO.
hey nickE
perhaps you have better brewing instructions for me - yesterday I found this one rather boring. For me it is just okay and I won't buy a cake. It is extremly mild and forgiving in the steepings - nothing that excited me.
Perhaps I brewed it wrong.

Hmm, if you found it boring, I would suggest upping the leaf to water ratio a bit. With the FT stuff, you won't get much punch like you would from other young Sheng - instead you get more sweet leather & dark tobacco.

I probably add half & half or milk and sweetner to any black tea that I am having about 95% of the time. Oolongs the same way probably 80% of the time. Greens with a tad of sweetner half the time. White teas I drink without any additives but I also don't drink them often. Iced tea I drink with a bit of sweetner and lemon if we are out at a restaurant and when I have it at home I almost always add fresh mint leaves.

Less than 5yrs ago. I tried adding milk to different teas a few years ago and never liked it and tried some honey and sugar and had the same result. Probably never will again.

I add 2% to my black tea first thing in the morning and 2% and sugar to my chai. Otherwise I rarely add anything.
