I stopped coffee the day I decided to stop smoking, but good coffee is real treat.

Oh...I guess neither one. I do think coffee has more potential to be something truly amazing than bags of tea.

So you are saying ... drink what you like and like what you drink? Still, the biggest sin is teabag tea, not necessarily drinking it. It is almost a crime what they are putting in most bags. And most people drink teabag tea out of ignorance of what tea can be beyond the bag.

But if someone loves their Lipton, power to them. Not me however.

I have to call coffee the bigger evil, mostly because it smells so very very good but then tastes so very very awful. I've also had some really nice tea in bags on occasion, more often herbal tisanes, but not always. I received a bag of Hwang Cha from Hankook as a free sample with purchase some months back, made from a prize-winning batch of their tea, and it was quite lovely stuff. So even though I've had criminally nasty teas in bags, not all tea in bags is nasty, but all coffee is tainted by the bait-and-switch of the sweet smelling but bitter tasting beans.

And this morning, enjoying the last of my Yuuki-cha Honyama sencha. I now only have one pouch of sencha left, will not make it to shincha....

yep...instant "coffee" is as bad as or worse than teabags

It´s unfortunate coffee in the english speaking world gets just as abused as tea

I´m quite far from being bitter-phobic but very bitter coffee, like very bitter tea is a sign of over-extraction...often from bad brewing, bad roasting, bad grinding or all three.

And like tea some coffee is more bitter than others...but I suspect you might be able to enjoy a light-moderate roast brewed with the pour-over technique.

Hmm, this is a hard one. It would depend on the tea bags and the coffee! Like the coffee they have at my work, that is a big sin! But brewed from fresh beans may be nice once in a while. While I was on vacation last year I did have some tea from tea bags. That is the last time I travel without a tea brewing kit!

Not a coffee drinker here.... but the best coffee I have ever tried was in Japan, of all places.
