by Chip » Mar 21st, '11, 01:21

Good TeaDay one and all. You are all welcome to join in this TeaDay celebration of Spring! Begin by sharing what is in your cup throughout the day.

Last weekend we discussed the tragic events in Japan. You can still vote and discuss the weekend's topic.

Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. Day two of Spring. Do you feel like celebrating with new or different teas commencing with Spring? Please share of course.

I am looking forward to sharing this Teaday with everyone. Bottoms up.

I visit the TeaSpring site from time to time
http://www.teaspring.com/oolong-tea.asp

But have never yet ordered from them, and my teastore is so full an imminent purchase is unlikely :)

TeaSpring and TeaSpring.com are coincidental, today is about Spring and tea.

Yesterday i began to prepare for spring by beginning spring cleaning. I'm clearing out another kitchen cabinet so I can spread out my tea and teaware. The double width cabinet will be for greens and whites and the single width cabinet will hold my still small but growing puerh collection. Since I had all the puerh out on the kitchen table for a bit I tried out some of the puerh samples.

Today in honor of spring I'll start the day with a some of my small remaining supply of Tai Ping Hou Kui. It's so green and fresh-tasting even though it's last year's harvest.

Well, yes, I'll be experimenting with new teas this spring. Some of them are affiliated with spring, like shincha. I've never bought it before and looking forward to the experience.

It's taken me all winter to find the direction I'm headed with roasted teas, so I've been buying some more wintry teas this spring too. I have a feeling they will not destroy my seasonal clock when drinking them though.

Sencha this morning. Like most mornings.

Other - I'm in the process of trying some "new to me" teas, but would be doing so even if it wasn't spring. After some suggestions in the Pu-Erh forum I placed a small order for some samples from Jas-eTea.

I started off this TeaDay with some Russian Caravan.

I got a bit of the fever! I'm trying out new vendors and half of the teas are familiar while some others are new.

I've some pu-erh, tencha, and some chinese greens (can't remember their names off-hand) that are waiting!

Lapsang in my cup for this cold, wet "spring" day :/

I am looking forward to the spring harvest and fresh, new greens, and I might pick up a little more from the 2010 harvest when O-Cha reopens.

Started the day with Hou de's 2009 shui xian. I'm almost at the end of the last bag. I might pop open my last bag of kanro gyo after supper.

For several years Spring has meant conserving Japanese greens as shincha approaches, reducing steep sizes, drinking other teas.

This is definitely the case now as I think I have a grand total of 50 grams Sencha! This is 1/6 of what I normally brew in a month. This also helps reduce

And with that in mind, began the TD with a smaller steep of Kaboku from Ippodo with the Mrs. Small steeps of Organic Sencha from Rishi to finish out a "light" TeaDay.

Since I'm pretty new to nice (non boxed and bagged) teas, so pretty much everything I try is new! And fortunately, almost everything I've tried, I've really loved!

Went right back to my tea origins today with SeaDyke red label TKY. Nothing new about it!
