It has to be balanced sweetness to make a tea interesting for me. Probably why I don't often get excited by the rather bland sweetness of many hongcha.

As far as unflavoured teas go it´s pretty hard to find one thats actually too sweet...but sometimes teas made entirely from young buds have a lot of sweetness and no astringency or bitterness and I find I don´t like the mouthfeel of those.

teaday today started with Umami Chaya 7132 in my new mogake shiboridashi :mrgreen:

Now I´m having a bit of Euro Té`s Pu-erh Tropic....it´s a nice clean shu with slices of dried mango :)

TD continued with YM from ... coincidently Umami Chaya. Finishing with Ali Shan from Adagio.

The only time I like sweetness in tea is when I am sick and usiong tea with honey as a treatment for a sore throat.
