Sooo, this TD topic continues into Saturday.

Please continue to share what is in your cup throughout the day, discuss the topic, and/or discuss whatever ... because this is TeaDay!

I recounted my open teas: 23, not including samples. I've got my work cut out for me.

Yunnan jig with lots of honey today. My boyfriend and I are trying to fight off our colds and sore throats.

Not counting pu I have 9 teas open: 1 red (82g), 1 dancong (41g) , 3 yan cha (96g), 3 sencha (180g), 1 gyo (24g). Hmmm... looks like I should have dancong with breakfast instead of yancha for thee or four days to work down the ratio.

I finally ordered a replacement pot for yan cha yesterday -- my old one couldn't be repaired. Until it arrives I'll be drinking lighter roasts, like
Seven Cups DHP for breakfast today.

I guess I have to comment on this Teaday as people have referenced my method for choosing teas a few times on here. Line them up and look at them till one leaps forward for me to choose.

Although in all honesty I cut back on open teas to where not counting Puerh, I have probably 6-10 open teas. I voted up to 10 minutes because when I am stumped I am stumped and it usually takes the water boiling to force me to just choose one.

Today's dilemma that slowed the tea picking was that a few days ago, we had a mini-heat wave, and one morning I did a new favorite thing when out of time after only two infusions of sencha: I covered the leaves with cold water and left them, in the kyusu, in the fridge.

Then we had a couple of chilly mornings in a row, including today, and I wanted hot sencha, but my kyusu was filled with cold stuff, and cold stuff that was too good to toss out.

So....putter, ponder, putter, ponder, and several minutes later, I prepared a delicious spicy tisane of tulsi, hibiscus, cinnamon, saffron, and cloves, and drank that hot to warm me up, and then drank the chilled sencha.

A few seconds. I usually only have 3-4 teas open and are black and oolong. Though this month will be different since i received a few Darjeelings from Tea Emporium a few days ago....having a 2nd flush now.

Up to a few minutes. I can be pretty indecisive.

Brewed up TeaMasters 2008 High Roast TGY yesterday in my new 50ml yixing. Great stuff.

No tea yet today. I'm thinking of Shengpu but haven't decided yet.

I think I have about 16 teas open, including samples (though I may have forgotten a couple samples..). I have an idea of what I want about half the time before I even get to the kitchen, but if I don't, it's usually a quick canvas of what's available - something generally jumps out at me (not literally, of course!). If not, it can take a minute to figure out what I want, but very rarely does it take me more than about 2 minutes.

Jade oolong this morning, likely some wuyi with dinner shortly.

It usually takes me up to 10 minutes. I root around in my tea box and get distracted by everything.

Pu-erh all day and all night today. Nom nom nom.

Easy picking today, all Japanese teas. As I mentioned previously, if I choose to go non Japanese, then time can add up. But picking a Japanese tea is usually quick and easy.

Began the TD with Organic 7132 from O-Cha with the Mrs. Next up, Kurogi Yame Sencha from Umami-Chaya. Finishing up with some dribs and drabs blended together.

Usually when I feel the craving of tea, I already have a specific type in mind, so picking the tea is very fast. This evening I tried some tie guan yin and sumatra oolong from a local shop. Not bad!

Picking a tea depends on a lot of different things for me--what the weather's like, how much time I have to make it, whether or not I need an extra caffeine hit to prop my eyelids open ... But usually it only takes me a few minutes to decide what I'm in the mood for. :)

Floating Leaves Oriental Beauty this morning--definitely needed a higher roasted oolong ...
