Busy busy busy with family from across the entire USA and preparing for my father's funeral. But it is very good to be all together.

Soooo anyway, we will carry over yesterday's TeaDay to Monday. Please stop in and share what is in your cup. Also continue to discuss yesterday's topic.

As a bonus question, share what cup(s) you are using today as well as your teas.

We are all looking forward to sharing this TeaDay with ... everyone. Bottoms up.

Depends on what tea I'm drinking. If it's some premium greenage I use my thick white porcelain Japanese cups. Shows off the color better. I also use these when I have guests drinking tea.

For oolong and puerh I use a 120 ml thin porcelain gaiwan that I broke the lid for. Makes a great cup and saucer.

For everyday sencha I have a green glazed bowl style cup I use if admiring the color isn't so much a factor. It is my prefered cup for drinking sencha.

And for matcha I use my chawan of course.

I may use 2 or 3 if I have the day off, otherwise usually just one or two.

YM 2010 this morning in my white cup. :D
Twinnings el-cheapo garbage in a syrofoam cup right now, as I got mandatory overtime and am just chugging copious amounts of this crap iced to stay awake. :(

Ahhh, this statement gave me a flashback... the memory of washing glassware: piles and piles of glassware from countless chemical reactions. I haven't had to do that in many years. It's kind of nice. :D

This morning I will be enjoying tea in a seigan mug at work. When I get home, I will probably be enjoying a chinese green in my seigan Sendai.

Have a great TeaDay everybody!

I have at least two cups--one I'm using at home, and the double-walled thermos I have to use at work. It ain't pretty, but it gets the job done. :)

At home I usually switch cups if I'm switching varieties of tea--a different cup for oolong vs. green, but otherwise I mostly stick to one cup a day. Less washing up that way!

I'm on extended travel just now, so I only have one teacup and one bowl I use for matcha with me. Otherwise the cup changes according to the tea.

Late report for Monday: started with TGY in Petr Novak SO cup; then a shu puerh in the thermos cup; finished with alternating sips of more TGY in my Greenwood Studios cup, and sips of Nada's 2011 Guafengzhai from the Petr Novak SO cup again. 4 teas, 3 cups.

Another late report ...

Had YM shincha in the morning with the Mrs. brewed up and served in Petr "snakeskin-yaki." Then 2010 Warashina Supreme organic served up in a Hagi Sendai.

And then the ultimate "Gourmet Tea" in a restuarant, Bigalow green in a coffee mug ... seriously, to call this set up gourmet is an insult. 15 cent teabag in a 50 cent cup. At least the food was good!

I keep having this conversation:

Some well-meaning friend: "Restaurant / coffeehouse X has really good tea!"

Me: "No, they don't."

Friend, "Yes, it's really good!"

Me: "You drink floor sweepings. You don't know what good tea looks or tastes like. I'm sure they have really good floor sweepings, and there may be some fragments of a tea plant in there somewhere, but that doesn't make it tea, let alone good tea."

Friend: "Oh very well. Restaurant / coffeehouse X has really good floor sweepings."

Me: "Good to know."

They had seriously gourmet coffee, beer, etc., which they called gourmet as well. I had a tiny hope for a decent cup of tea.

What they don't tell you is the Gourmet Beer is which ever of the BMC (Bud Miller Coors) is on sale at the time, and the Gourmet Coffee is instant.

Well, the home brewers in the fam were as ecstatic about the beers as I was disgusted about the "tea." But I grin and bear it as we all do from time to time.

... and need to drink a real tea now or face another teabag firing squad in around 90 minutes.
