Interesting. I remember reading about the mongols putting fermented mare milk in their tea, which I thought was quite strange. Sheep/camel fat must be something they do in the Middle East somewhere... now I want to look it up.

I found a food related article that mentioned it. It seems to be something that the Tibetan nomads do.

I tend towards the really dark black blends.. scottisch, irish and english breakfast teas.. also Earl Grey. I'll most often use some cream and sometimes either honey or sugar.

If I'm drinking a green or white.. or even a flavored black, then nothing.

Once upon a time, I took my Darjeelings and red teas with a little sugar.
These days I am a purist and drinking mostly oolongs and greens.

Usually I´m a purist...if I´m sick I´ll add honey and lemon. If the tea is bad and I´m drinking for caffiene (like on an airplane) I add lemon too.

A purist too for the most part. Unless I am sick or drinking chai tea.

Off topic, but I live in Modesto. This morning there was a shootout and two people were killed, one a sheriff. The gunman barricaded himself inside a apartment complex (still there), and there is over 100 officers from various agencies such as the FBI, SWAT, and the different police departments from different counties. Crazy...

Not only is Modesto known for the murder of Laci Peterson, but also the teacher-and-student relationship last month, and now this...

Here's the local paper news report. http://www.modbee.com/2012/04/12/215477 ... rving.html

I'm sure it will make national news, no doubt.

I did milk+maple syrup (or other sugars) for my hei cha, and brandy/rum for my Yunnan black and puerh. I also add Mongolian dried milk skin (discovered on taobao  and confirmed by a friend to be something nice to add to Fu brick tea) sometimes.

But today 5 of my new green teas have just arrived. Absolutely no additives today

I hardly ever add anything to tea with the exception of "tea" bags - lemon.

I've read somewhere.
That Tibetan monks drink salt in their tea. Its partly for religious reasons..
(if not entirely)

maté + fruit juice (best with citrus) makes for a fantastic cold beverage in summer

milk with masala chai :)

and of course, nothing but water added to pure c. seninsis
